Idea today launched its 4G LTE services across four more states or three telecom circles – Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Haryana and Punjab, three weeks after it launched 4G services across five states in South India – Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Telangana. Idea said that its 4G LTE services will be available across 183 towns in these circles by 31st January 2016. It also said that it has received over 1.5 million 4G service requests from existing customers on its pre-book offer. Idea Cellular has launched new Freedom packs, low-cost data packs for prepaid users with monthly validity. These packs provide consumers the freedom from multiple recharges, while giving great value for money and is specially targeted at students, housewives, and new users, who have a consistent but limited data usage, said the company. The Idea Freedom packs come with 28 days validity. The Rs. 100 pack offers 300 MB of 2G data, and the Rs. 175 pack offers 500 MB of 3G data. Earlier this week Vodafone announced the reduction of 2G data rates for the Pay as you Go (PAYG) users down to 2p/10KB from the previous rate of 10p/10KB, later Airtel announced the reduction of 2G data rates by 90% for pre-paid customers in Punjab and Haryana. Idea Cellular has launched new tariff voucher in UP West and Uttrakhand customers that would let them make local on-net (Idea to Idea) calls at just 10 paise per minute. This is available through a special tariff voucher (STV) priced at Rs.28. Idea launched similar plans in Andhra Pradesh and Gujarat last year.

The Supreme Court of India has cancelled 122 2G licenses issued by the Government on after 10th Jan 2008. This cancellation affects customers of Uninor,Videocon,MTS ,Loop Telecom , Etisalat , Idea Cellular, STel and Tata Docomo in 22 circles. The court order will come into effect in 4 months and you might have to use MNP to port your number to another operator who is not affected.
