iOS has been notorious for requiring massive amounts of free space available on a handset before proceeding with a software update. This has traditionally proven to be a hindrance for users of iOS devices with low internal storage. Devices like the 16GB iPhone and iPad remain amongst the highest selling devices for Apple and with the limited amount of storage on offer, the devices invariably lack enough free storage onboard to facilitate the update.
