Samsung patents reveal new smartphone form factors with flexible displays

We’ve had ‘pre-flexed’ display smartphones for a while now and as interesting as they are, things do get really interesting when we have proper flexible screens on devices and smartphones. Some of the latest patents filed by Samsung reveal smartphones with very interesting form factors that are possible thanks to flexible displays.

Sharp develops ultra sharp 4.1 inch LCD display with 736ppi

Sharp has developed a new 4.1” IGZO LCD display with 736 pixels per inch (ppi). According to Sharp, its new display has the same pixel density as a 6-inch 4K display. The highest-resolution LCD panel that the company has so far developed is a low-temperature polycrystalline silicon (LTPS) panel that has a resolution slightly lower than 550ppi.

Nokia N85 vs N82 – Part 2 : OLED vs LCD

The 2nd part of our Nokia N85 vs N82 comparison tackles the N85’s biggest addition: the OLED display. OLED which stands for Organic Light Emitting Diode bring a new technology to the N85’s screen removing the small light bulbs from underneath it, and thus allowing for more accurate color renditions, darker blacks and a better contrast. Here is a comparison of the same image being displayed on the N82 (regular LCD screen) and the N85 (OLED screen).

Mobiles with Dual Screens coming soon

You might have seen so so many phones with dual displays. Like a normal internal display and a smaller external display. But an article throws insight on a recent innovation by a Korean inventor. Its a Dual Lcd for the internal display as you can see in the image below.

It also looks like a fold able display. Would be exciting to watch if any of the mobile manufacturers entice this idea.
