Users of Windows Phone devices have long been left out of the fitness bands and wearables group due to lack of official applications on the platform. Earlier this year, Microsoft had claimed that it was working on changing that. With the Windows Phone 8.1 update, the mobile operating system got much improved bluetooth support including much needed Bluetooth LE support which is most important for low power wearables. Nokia Camera updated with few improvements, likely to be renamed as Lumia Camera

Nokia Camera app has been updated with few tweaks. The version 4.8.1.1. brings improved Inline Video Playback and living images playback in Camera Roll. In addition, the camera has got improved focus indicator on devices with continuous Autofocus. Other than this the app gets bug fixes and improvements.

Render images of a possible Nokia Lumia 830 surfaced online today that has trademark ‘Nokia by Microsoft’. Now, report is coming from the popular leakster @evleaks saying that an Android-powered Lumia phone is coming under the same branding.

Nokia Lumia Icon heads to Verizon, packs Snapdragon 800 processor & 5 inch 1080p display

The long rumored Nokia Lumia Icon has finally been announced and it packs quite a punch. The device that is exclusive to Verizon, combines the specifications of the Lumia 1520 with the size of the Nokia Lumia 928. The phone sports a 5 inch OLED display with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. Packed into the five inch frame this gives it a pixel density of 441ppi. The dimensions of the phone are fairly svelte at 5.39” x 2.79” x 0.39” inches while the weight comes in at 166 grams. Windows Phone 8.1 rumoured to arrive in April

Windows Phone 8.1 codenamed “Blue” has been rumoured for a long time now, ever since Microsoft confirmed the existence of Windows 8.1(also codenamed “Blue”). While Windows 8.1 has seen its release right on time, with a developer preview in June last year and commercial release by October, we are yet to see even a glimpse of Windows Phone 8.1, which we were hoping to be delivered as fast as the first Windows 8 update. Now, fresh rumours from reliable Mary Jo Foley, ZDNet, reveal that Windows Phone is all set for a April reveal, with developers getting the preview first and general availability later. This comes after rumours of a Cortana reveal, which is a virtual assistant and very much a part of Windows Phone that coincides with Microsoft’s developer event at the same time – Build 2014.

Nokia Lumia 1320 Unboxing

The Nokia Lumia 1320 is part of the two new phablets announced by the Finnish company some time back. Announced alongside the 1520, the device follows the large screen trend and brings a massive 6 inch display to the table. Under the hood you find a 1.7 Ghz Dual Core Snapdragon 400 processor which is paired with 1GB of RAM. A 5MP camera is located at the back of the phone while a 0.3MP shooter can be seen up front. The 6 inch display has a resolution of 1280 x 720 and has a Gorilla Glass 3 coating on top. Owing to the large display, an additional column of tiles can be pinned on the screen. Nokia Lumia 1320 India launch scheduled for mid January 2014

While Nokia announced the Lumia 1520 in India earlier this week, all eyes are set on its lower priced sibling ie the Lumia 1320. The handset couples a 6 inch display with more mid range specifications and aims to compete at a price point dominated by Android phablets.

Nokia Lumia 1520, 1320 to launch in India on 16th December

Nokia is all set to unveil the next chapter of its Lumia story in India. The Finnish smartphone manufacturer today sent out invites for a press conference to be held in Delhi on 16th December.

If it wasn’t obvious already then the focus on BIG in the invitation makes it clear that the handsets to be launched will include the Lumia 1520 and 1320. The two phones are the first phablets to be launched by Nokia. Nokia’s first Windows RT running tablet will go on sale and will be priced at $399.99 with a two year contract. The price further drops down to $199.99 if you also bundle in a Nokia Lumia 925, 1020 or 1520 smartphone in your two year agreement.
