MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ to power 5G smartphones in India from early 2021

MediaTek already announced its Dimensity 800U mid-range 5G SoC in India earlier this month and said that the first phone powered by the mid-range 5G processor will be launched in the country in January 2021. Today it has announced the MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ chip for the Indian market and said that it expects smartphones powered by the flagship chip to launch in early in 2021. MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ SoC with support for dual 5G SIM cards, up to 144Hz displays announced

MediaTek just announced Dimensity 1000+, the company’s latest flagship SoC and enhanced version of the Dimensity 1000 that was introduced last year. It has built-in 5G modem with Carrier Aggregation, dual 5G SIM, and MediaTek’s 5G UltraSave power saving technologies that dynamically adjust the modem’s power configuration and operating frequency according to network conditions and user activities to significantly save power. MediaTek Dimensity 1000 SoC to feature first ever hardware AV1 video decoder

Recently, AV1 (AOMedia Video 1) is gaining popularity thanks to its royalty-free licensing model and good compression rates for content. However, the codec has largely been absent for streaming content on the smartphone due to the lack of a decoder. That is about to change as the MediaTek’s upcoming Dimensity 1000 5G SoC has an integrated hardware AV1 decoder.

MediaTek Dimensity 1000 Octa-Core 7nm SoC with built-in 5G announced

MediaTek just announced Dimensity 1000, the company’s latest flagship SoC with built-in 5G, as it had promised. It is the company’s first chip to use 7nm process technology, and uses four Cortex-A77 cores operating up to 2.6GHz and four power-efficient ARM Cortex-A55 cores operating at up to 2.0GHz.
