Nokia N9 MeeGo Phone Announced , available later this year

At the Nokia Connection 2011 event in Singapore today , Marko Ahtisaari, Senior Vice President , Design , Nokia introduced the Nokia N9 the first MeeGo phone from the company. The design looks incredibly awesome and we can barely wait to get our hands on it.  The UI works in a swipe based mechanism and uses no physical keys.

Nokia N9 Press Images Leaked

PocketNow has got their hands on the Press Images of the rumoured Nokia N9 / Lankku / N950 . The images almost confirms that the device will be a Touch only device without a QWERTY keyboard. Full specs or a final name is still not out, but the handset is likely to arrive in Pink, Blue and Black. Nokia N9 Meego Phone codenamed Lankku coming tomorrow ?

Looks like Nokia Vietnam has spilled the beans about the upcoming Nokia Meego Phone – the N9 which is codenamed Lannku. The banner above translates roughly to ” a masterpiece from Nokia
will be introduced on 21 june 2011. Don’t miss it”. The source code on the page confirms the existence of Nokia N9 aka Lannku   We expected the first Nokia Meego phone to be announced MeegoConf last month but it never happened. Nokia is expected to announce a market disrupting device tomorrow June 21st on the sidelines of CommunicAsia. Will it be the N9/N9-01 Meego Phone or the silly 1GHz S40 phone ?

Nokia N9 / RM-680 Passes FCC Tests , Coming Soon ?

The long awaited MeeGo smartphone by Nokia might finally be making its way to consumers soon. FCC documents reveal that the device has undergone testing and packs in quad band GSM and penta band 3G support like the recent Symbian 3 devices. The device bears an uncanny resemblance to the previously leaked design. There were rumors around the internet that the design had been ditched for an all new fully touch based phone but the FCC images say otherwise.

LG to showcase Meego Smartphones and Tablets at Meego Conference this May

MWC 2011 : Intel Event Summary

Intel showcased its improved tablet user interface for MeeGo tablets today at MWC in Barcelona. Along with the version 1.2 UI special emphasis was paid to underlying hardware. The upcoming Oaktrail , Medfield platforms are poised to provide unparalleled computing performance in addition to great battery life.

Intel’s Anand Chandrashekhar showed off the Medfield processor which will support advanced LTE networks along with new and improved imaging technologies which will allow for much better low light photography. Intel claims to be working on improving active usage battery life. What this means is that not only will the smartphones have great standby times , they will also run longer on a single charge.

Preliminary Medfield benchmarks show that the OS has double the performance of competing platforms. The Medfield processor will ship in smartphone products later this year and will support both MeeGo and Android.

Nokia N9 Not Killed – Might Come with Windows 7

The news that Nokia’s first MeeGo device, the Nokia N9 has been cancelled is making the headlines all round. But we didn’t post about it because we knew something else was happening. Now it seems that the handset itself hasn’t been canned, the operating system has now been changed from MeeGo to Windows Phone 7.
