The Moto G has been expected to launch in India sometime in the first quarter of 2014 but now thanks to a report published by the Times of India, we can get a more specific time frame. The report states that the Moto G launch in India has been scheduled for the last week of January. India is slated to get the dual SIM variant of budget Android device alongside Brazil. Expected to be priced very competitively, the phone brings modest specifications in the form of a 1.2Ghz Snapdragon 400 processor, 1GB RAM and a 720p 4.5 inch display. Motorola Moto G Google Play Edition announced
In somewhat of a bizarre announcement, Google just made the Moto G Google Play edition available in the US and several other countries’ Play Stores. Unfortunately, it says “not available in your country” for India, so we might have to wait a bit longer to get the Moto G here. But here’s the thing, Google has just announced a Play Edition of a device that already got fast updates and has a stock interface. From our understanding, the Moto G Google Play Edition will not carry any of Motorola’s additions(which are few already) and will get updates at the same time as other Play Edition devices. These are the only two things that are possibly different with the Google Play Edition of the super “value for money” Moto G. It is available for order on the Play Store for a price of $179, unlocked and the 16GB version costs $199.

Motorola Moto G retailer pack leaked, coming to Verizon for just $100 off contract
Google announced Motorola’s next budget smartphone device – Motorola Moto G sometime back and it is scheduled to arrive in India during January 2014. Moto G is budget minded mid-range smartphone that makes little compromise on the specifications as it sports a 4.5inch 720p display, has a quad-core processor and is fueled by a 2070mAh battery and India is likely to receive a dual-SIM variant.

Motorola Moto G will be the first Motorola device to be launched in India after a long hiatus. Motorola Moto G was unveiled in Brazil recently and it was specifically made keeping in mind two markets – India and Brazil. The Motorola Moto G that will be coming to India will include dual SIM functionality and is expected to be priced around Rs. 12,000 making it one of the affordable mid-range phones. Though a low price point doesn’t necessarily guarantee a product’s success, the Moto G’s value for money and the features it offers for the price are expected to sweep away the Indian market.
Moto G now available for purchase off contract in the US, prices start at $179
Motorola took the world by surprise when it unveiled a surprisingly capable sibling to the higher end Moto X. The Moto G as it has been dubbed, brings together a 4.5 inch 720p display, a quad core Snapdragon 400 processor and the promise of fast Android updates to deliver a very compelling experience. The phone ships with Android 4.3 JellyBean onboard but will get an update to 4.4 KitKat in the beginning of 2014. The phone ships in both 8GB and 16GB versions. Given the lack of expandable storage, we’d recommend sticking to the 16GB version. Continue reading “Moto G now available for purchase off contract in the US, prices start at $179”
Does the Moto G lack the WiFi Hotspot feature ?
We were all excited about the Motorola Moto G which is a $179 unlocked Android device with some really impressive specs for a phone in that price band. It is even coming soon to India as early as Jan 2014. But today something caught our attention on twitter. While responding to a user’s query , Motorola’s official account did mention that that the Moto G does not have the WiFi hotspot feature ! Now this is interesting because the Moto G runs on pretty much stock Android with no custom skin . But Google did disable WiFi hotspot in the Nexus 7 3G 2012 edition so this is not something totally new. This might be a move to prevent backlash from American carriers as they would require a tethering plan for the same. But the device itself costs only $179 without a contract so paying a premium for a tethering plan does not make any sense.

The Android 4.3 running handset will get an upgrade to Kit Kat (Android 4.4) by January 2014. During the launch it was confirmed that the handset will be making it over to India. Motorola Moto G Hands On
Hands on with the Motorola Moto G
If you’re looking for a cheap Android smartphone, you’ll probably be looking at Samsung and Sony or a cheaper player like Micromax and Huawei. The only problem is – cheap Android phones are usually low spec and definitely not fast. Until now.
Google-owned Motorola introduced the Moto G, a budget Android smartphone with a BIG difference – it has a low cost price tag with excellent specs that definitely beat the best available from other manufacturers.

Motorola Moto G India Launch in early Jan 2014
Motorola just officially announced the Moto G at an event in Sao Paulo in Brazil and also holding a satellite event in London where we should be getting our hands on the Moto G shortly. The company has also confirmed that the Moto G is indeed coming to India as soon as January 2014. The device is priced at an aggressive $179 price for a 8GB unlocked version in the US without any contract of any sort. The 16GB version costs just $20 more at $199. The India pricing is not yet available but we expect it to be announced closer to launch and hopefully under Rs.12500 which is probably one of the cheapest Android phones from an international handset maker.
