HTC Volantis with 8.9″ display, Tegra K1 processor leaked as upcoming Nexus tablet

HTC hasn’t been entirely secretive about their plans to launch a new tablet later this year and the latest rumors seem to corroborate those whispers. It is believed that the company might have been tasked with the production of Google’s next Nexus tablet. HTC had been responsible for making the first Nexus handset ie the G1.

Nexus 9 - HTC Volantis

Initially known as the Nexus 8 and believed to be codenamed the Flounder, latest news indicated that the handset will be called the HTC Volantis. The tablet will pack a 8.9″ display with a resolution of 2048×1440 pixels. This resolution suggests that the tablet will approach a 4:3 aspect ratio. This would be the same as seen on Apple’s iPad series of tablets and has proven to be more conducive for reading. Google’s Android Silver may launch Feb 2015, Snapdragon 810-powered LG handset to be one of the first?

There were rumors at the end of last month that Google is replacing its Nexus line of devices with high-end Android Silver phones. Last week, Chromium code of Nexus 6 and Nexus 8 were spotted online on the Code Review page. Today, popular Twitter leaker @evleaks has revealed that Google is planning to scrap its Nexus line and hence we will not see a Nexus 6.

Google rumored to be working on a budget Nexus smartphone

Google is reportedly working on a low budget Nexus smartphone and has teamed up with Taiwanese chip maker MediaTek for the same, according to a Chinese website MTKSJ. The entry-level Nexus is rumoured to be priced as low as $100 (about Rs 6,000) and hence will fall in the category of lower mid-range phones.

Android 4.4.1 update fixes Nexus 5 camera woes

google-nexus-5-review-43Smartphone photography is the next big thing and Google is taking note of all the troubles faced by Nexus 5 users. In an update aimed at squashing all those bugs, Google has started rolling out the Android 4.4.1 update for Nexus 5 users. David Burke, Director of Engineering for Android at Google, says that the update can be classified in five categories. Autofocus related fixes form the first part of that. Burke says that the team has sped up the read time for surrounding imagery to gauge the surroundings and to set up the image capture algorithms accordingly. Hence the autofocus mechanism will trigger quicker, the images will be captured faster. There have also been improvements on the exposure and white balance front. Google Nexus 10 coming soon to India ? Gets priced at Rs.29999

Looks like Google is bringing one more Nexus device soon to India but in this case a slightly old tablet the Nexus 10. The Nexus 10 was announced last year along with the Nexus 7 and Nexus 4 and went on sale in November 2012. Almost a year later there is an indication of this Android tablet coming to India on the Google Play Store when there are in fact rumors about the Nexus 10 version 2. The pricing is mentioned as Rs.29999 and the same tablet is sold in USA for $399 before taxes which is roughly about Rs.27000 approximately which is a tad high for a WiFi only Android tablet. The Nexus 10 is actually made by Samsung and has some interesting specs.

Our good friend Michael Hell might not be blogging actively here but he still loves gadgets and shiny new phones. He brings us this awesome photo gallery of the just announced Google Nexus 5 made by LG which has gone on sale in several countries including Austria where he managed to get one. The Nexus 5 is coming soon to India as well and even the price has been revealed. The packaging looks pretty similar to the one found on the Nexus 7 2013 which seems like the new design language for the new Nexus lineup. Here we are going to take a look at the wonderful white version of the Nexus 5. There is a black version available as well. It will be available in both 16GB and 32GB capacities. HTC One Android 4.3 OTA Update starts rolling out in Taiwan

The HTC One might have launched way back in February but it still remains the flagship phone for the company, and with it being a flagship comes the responsibility of fast updates. We have seen the Android 4.2.2 update roll out first in Taiwan, in the month of July, and now we are seeing the latest Android 4.3 update roll out for the HTC One again, in Taiwan, starting today. Android 4.3 is still the latest version of the vastly popular operating system and considering that even the Nexus devices run on this version, HTC and other OEMs have made good time on the updates.

Did Google just accidentally leak the LG Nexus 5?

Having announced the Google KitKat partnership for the next version of Android, the company released a video showing a celebratory installation of the new mascot in GooglePlex. This video might have looked normal at first, but keen eyes spotted a weird new device with the Nexus branding on the back. Could this be the unannounced Google Nexus 5? Also, if the logo is inspected at close, it looks to be made by LG. Unless our eyes fool us, this might actually be the upcoming Nexus 5 phone from Google, made by LG.

New Nexus 7 2013 Unboxing

Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition Unboxing

I was in New York city recently for an event and managed to get hold of the recently launched Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition for unboxing as I’m a huge fan of devices running stock Android and the Galaxy S4 has some great internals and a full HD Super AMOLED display. Samsung’s TouchWiz UI on top on Android does offer some useful features but it does come at a cost in terms of free space on the device and
