Google’s Sundar Pichai sounds off on the future of Nexus at D11

Google’s Sundar Pichai introduced a Google edition of the HTC One at the ATD D11 conference yesterday which we’d reported on earlier. But the announcement was just the first of many interesting tid bits dropped by the Chief of Android and Chrome during his keynote session. While two top end phones by Samsung and HTC might signal the end of the Nexus device program, Pichai was quick to point out that, “The goal with Nexus was to push forward hardware as well. That will continue.”

Nexus 4 spotted running Android 4.3 Jellybean

XDA forum user Chaleen has posted the above image found on a Nexus 4 in a mobile Expo in Thailand. The Android version number being 4.3 suggests that the newest iteration of Android, which was expected to be launched at the Google I/O a week back might actually be launched on the rumoured date of June 10th. Samsung Galaxy S4 with stock Android and Nexus-like updates gets official, priced at 649$

In a surprising move, Google has announced a Pure Google Android version of the Samsung Galaxy S4, available unlocked, with Nexus-like updates for 649$ in the United states. This comes as a surprise because this is not a completely new nexus device, like the rumoured Motorola X Phone, but just another Samsung Galaxy S4, with pure Google at heart. Unlocked from carriers and sporting an unlocked bootloader, this device would be the device to get if you are not willing to agree to Touchwiz or all of its features.

Will Google start selling the Nexus 4 in India soon ?

In an interesting development , Google has listed the Nexus 7 up for sale on the Google Play India store just minutes ago. This is the first time Google is directly selling a device in India to a customer through its Play store. This might be a sign of things to come. The Nexus 4 is also hidden on the store but the page says that ” it is not available in your country ” . There has been a lot of speculation about the Nexus 4 launching in India ever since Google started selling one of the most affordable Android 4.2 powered in the US market.

LG and Google unveiled the Nexus 4,new Smartphone in the Nexus family at the end of October. It has a 4.7-inch (1280 × 768 pixels) display with 320 ppi and corning Gorilla Glass 2 protection, 1.5 GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor with Adreno 320 GPU and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). The Nexus 4 is priced at $299 for the 8GB version and the 16GB version comes at a price tag of $349. LG and Google announce the Nexus 4

Google had canceled the New York Android event due to Hurricane Sandy but the hurricane could not stop them from officially announcing the devices.Google and LG have finally officially unveiled the next Nexus phone which is from LG this time round -Nexus 4. The handset has been leaked multiple times and was reportedly lost in in a bar. The Nexus 4 looks very similar to the previous Nexus devices from the front but very different in the back.The Nexus 4 was jointly designed by LG and Google. Nexus 10 leaks, runs Android 4.2 on a 2500 x 1600 10.1″ screen

Google is widely expected to launch a second larger tablet at its upcoming Android centric event to provide a higher end offering alongside its current Nexus 7. The Nexus 10 was today leaked by BriefMobile and as expected, runs Android 4.2 on Samsung manufactured hardware. The screen is a 10.1″ unit with a resolution of 2500×1600. This results in a ppi of 298.9 which is most definitely higher than that on the iPad’s retina display.

LG Nexus 4 with Nexus branding shows up

LG Mobile’s upcoming Nexus smartphone has been doing rounds on the internet a lot. And today we have a sweet looking picture of the phone with the iconic Nexus branding on the back thanks to @evleaks. The pictures of this phone had been leaked in the past as the LG E960 but the Nexus branding was missing in those images. Google has scheduled an Android focussed event for the 29th of October and details around it have already started trickling out. Alongside the expected Nexus 4, it is now almost certain that Google will introduce a 32GB variant of the Nexus 7.

Google Nexus 7 Unboxing

I was recently in the US on a short visit and managed to pick up the Google Nexus 7 first Android Tablet to run on Android 4.1 JellyBean. Here is a quick unboxing video of the this tiny little tablet from Google & Asus which is priced at $199 (excluding tax and shipping). This 7 inch tablet has a back-lit IPS display which sports a resolution of 1280×800 pixels

Google Music receives major UI overhaul

The Google Music application has just received a major update bringing its user interface in line with the one shipping on the Nexus 7. The updated application follows the Holo UI principles similar to the Google+ app and there is a lot of focus on visuals with large images. In addition some useful additions like adding new tracks to a playlist queue have been included.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus Unboxing Video

The Galaxy Nexus is world’s first phone to run on Android 4.0 which is also known as Ice Cream Sandwich. Google and Samsung unveiled the device in Hong Kong last month and the device went on sale in few markets earlier this month. The handset is priced at around 429 pounds in the UK.The box is unusually long and has the picture of the device on the front and sides.A very simplistic design with subtle marketing material. No mention even of the specs on the outside.The unit we got was a Titanium Silver color. The device boasts of a 4.65 inch SuperAMOLED display with a 720p resolution.It is powered by a 1.2 GHz CPU and packs 16GB of inbuilt storage without an expansion slot. There is a 5MP camera on the back and a 1.3 MP front facing camera. It uses only a normal SIM card slot unlike other recent phones to hit the market like iPhone 4s, Nokia Lumia 800 or Motorola RAZR. Samsung Galaxy Nexus SIM-Free delayed in the UK

Many online retailers in the UK have who were initially all set to ship the Samsung Galaxy Nexus on Nov 17 which is the official launch date for the device in the UK have now post-poned the shipping date. Clove has pushed the shipping date to Nov 23 and Expansys has pushed the date to Dec 1st. Operator 3 UK has warned customers who pre-ordered the device yesterday that their phone won’t be delivered until Nov 22 due to stock delays.
