Nokia N85 vs N82 – Part 2 : OLED vs LCD

The 2nd part of our Nokia N85 vs N82 comparison tackles the N85’s biggest addition: the OLED display. OLED which stands for Organic Light Emitting Diode bring a new technology to the N85’s screen removing the small light bulbs from underneath it, and thus allowing for more accurate color renditions, darker blacks and a better contrast. Here is a comparison of the same image being displayed on the N82 (regular LCD screen) and the N85 (OLED screen).

Nokia N85: Image Review

N97 aside, the N85 is one of the most recent Nseries devices offering a range of features and combining the best of Nokia into one handset. Many people are calling it the N95 successor, or the better N95 as it takes the flagship’s dual slide design but adds a lot more to it in terms of battery, RAM, internal memory and hardware features. Here is an image review of the N85, but we also have a video review that we will publish later.

The N85 is a slider device. The main unit packs a 2.6″ screen with an accelerometer that rotates the display to landscape when needed. On top of it is the speakerphone with the front camera and the light sensor. Below it are the d-pad which also functions as a Navi-Wheel, the multimedia key and the red and green call keys. Another set of keys, that only light up when the device is being used are the right and left softkeys and the menu button and delete key. Continue reading “Nokia N85: Image Review”

Nokia N97: Glory In Images

Here it is, the most awaited and anticipated Nokia device of this year. The N97 is upon us, with its glorious 3.5″ touchscreen, its numeric keyboard, its amazing slide and tilt design, its widgets and 32GB of internal memory. The N97 is here, and here are some images of the device in its awesome white color, as well as a few poorly-lit images of the N97 black silver color (the last 3 being taken by the Nokia 5800). We won’t say a lot, and will let you enjoy the pictures. The images speak for themselves when a handset is so beautifully designed.

As always, click on the thumbnail photos for the full resolution image.

Nokia N97 Announced, A New Flagship From Nokia

The N95 is becoming a bit too classic and too old, so Nokia needed to release an ultimate flagship handset, again to fill in the N95’s shoes. And here it is, just announced at Nokia World in Barcelona, the new Nokia N97!

The N97 features a slide-out tilt screen Qwerty design, and runs on the new Symbian S60 5th edition: it is the 2nd S60 handset to sport a touchscreen after the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic which has just started shipping. The touchscreen is a widescreen 3.5inch display with 16 million colors and a 16:9 640×360 pixels resolution. The interface is very similar to the 5800 XpressMusic, except that the N97 offers a customizable standby screen where you can add widgets (somehow similar to the Today Screen on Windows Mobile) like email, calendar, music player, application shortcuts, social networks, weather. You can also organize these and create your own if you feel like it.

Nokia, Why Windows when we Have S60?

Sometime back Microsoft’s marketing director said that though Nokia is kinda of Symbian brand loyal they are in the process of discussion where they are pursuing Nokia to go with Windows mobile. Nokia didn’t react to this news when it was flashed by ITWire, I think now a days Nokia doesn’t react much to what media says about the company, leaking of N96 pics and specs and the German episode are good evidences for that.
