In the latest development, Microsoft has announced the acquisition of Nuance Communications, in an all-cash transaction valued at $19.7 billion, inclusive of net debt. As a part of the deal, the Redmond tech giant will pay $56 per share for Nuance, a 23% premium over the closing price of Nuance on Friday, April 9. Nuance introduces support for ‘Hinglish’ language in Swype
Most Android users have tried and tested the Swype keyboard which relies on quite literally swiping your fingers across the on-screen keyboard. It uses adaptive learning capabilities and smart algorithms to type out the current word and more. Nuance today announced that keeping in mind the Indian market where users tend to mix English and Hindi while messaging, they’ve worked on a special ‘Hinglish’ keyboard. The keyboard has a dictionary of several thousand words which are often used including chai, paani, desi, garam, masti, jungli amongst others.
Swype update for Android 4.0 on its way
Swype , the extremely popular keyboard replacement for Android amongst other operating systems is getting a major update soon. The application which currently doesn’t support the latest version of Android ie ICS will include support for the OS in the latest update.

Sources with knowledge of the deal report that Nuance , the company behind technologies like the ubiquitous T9 input , has acquired Seattle based Swype. Swype is one of the most innovative text entry solutions to have appeared in the past few years facilitating text entry speeds capable of competing with hardware keyboards on touchscreen only devices.
