Panasonic launches its first feature phones EZ180 and EZ240 in India starting at Rs. 1350
Panasonic India has entered into feature phone market with two new phones- EZ180 and EZ240. The company entered into the smartphone market with P51 last year. Later it expanded its smartphone segment with new mid-range smartphones. These new affordable feature phones are the only devices in the Indian feature phone market which are CE certified, says the company. Panasonic P51 Review
Panasonic announced and launched its first and only smartphone for the Indian market – the Panasonic P51 last week. It is supposed to be its splashing entry into the crowded Indian smartphone market and everybody expected it to make an entry in the low-mid end segment where the volume is, so did we. But instead of following the “new manufacturer – low price” route, Panasonic did the opposite in bringing a flagship-like device with a price tag that you would attach to a mid-high end smartphone. Panasonic today launched two new tablets amidst a range of products as part of their Toughpad range. The Windows 8 and Android running tablets have been built according to the MIL-STD-810G specification. The rugged shock proof, water proof and dust proof tablets are aimed at use in industries with harsh working environments and can survive falls from up to 4 feet.

Panasonic ELUGA Power, new 5-inch Android smartphone is now on pre-order in UK from Clove. It has 5-inch (1280 x 720 HD) display and is powered by 1.5GHz Dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor. Panasonic has announced a new waterproof Android smartphone, Panasonic ELUGA for Europe. This phone is sleek, which is just 7.8 mm thick and weighs 103 g. It has 4.3 inch, (960×540 pixels ), capacitive OLED display that has 66% display area ratio, 1GHz dual-core processor (OMAP4430) and 8MP auto focus camera. It is protected for up to a depth of 1 metre for up to 30 minutes in water, and protected against dust if left near or in it for 8h or less. Panasonic to launch ultra-slim, waterproof and dustproof Android phone with 4.3 inch OLED display in March 2012
Panasonic has grand plans with it’s smartphone which is expected to hit Europe by March 2012. The company has released few details along with some pictures of the Panasonic prototype Android phone. The device uses a 4.3 inch qHD OLED display with a really slim bezel.The design will be ultra-slim and sport a D-shape.The front shows off the Panasonic branding along with the Menu , home and Back keys. Since waterproof phones are pretty common in Japan , Panasonic is bringing its expertise to the table and claims that it’s first smartphone will be waterproof and dustproof. Panasonic Mobile To Shut Down GSM Operations
This means that the Panasonic Mobile plant in the Philippines will be closed. The GSM production lines at the Czech plant will also be shut down and the GSM manufacturing in Beijing will be retooled to focus on 3G phones. The company also announced that it is working to shift all of its future handsets over to the Linux based platform that the company is currently using in the Japanese market.
This past week Matsushita Electrical Industrial Co., Ltd, the parent company of mobile phone maker Panasonic Mobile, announced that Panasonic will no longer compete in the GSM handset business due to “severe global competition”. The company said that it will refocus all of its efforts on 3G handsets, where it has been quite successful so far.
This means that the Panasonic Mobile plant in the Philippines will be closed. This shift towards Linux means that the Panasonic R&D facilities in the US will be closed, as these offices had been working on devices based on the Symbian OS. The Panasonic R&D labs in the UK will refocus on 3G technologies.
