Microsoft today announced new changes to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook and these changes are exclusive to Office.com and Office 365. The company also mentioned that over the next few months it will be deploying new designs to select customers in stages and carefully test and will move them into production only after they have made it through rigorous rounds of validation and refinement. Microsoft has added a bunch of new additions and improvements to its Office apps on iPhone and iPad. The latest update will allow users to take advantage of the new features present on the iPhone, iPad and iOS 9.
Microsoft had released Microsoft Office applications – Word, Excel and PowerPoint on the Apple app store just ahead of their Build conference and now, within just a week after launch, according to Microsoft, there have been 12 million downloads of its apps. That shows the immense popularity for Microsoft apps. The apps are free to download, but they are free only for viewing the files. In order to be able to edit files on the iPad, you should have subscription for Microsoft Office which will cost you $99 per annum.

At an event in San Francisco today, Microsoft’s new CEO Satya Nadella announced the availability of Microsoft Office for the iPad. The company has released 3 new iPad apps for Word , Excel and PowerPoint . The news is not a big surprise considering this is a much expected move but instant availability on the App Store is a great piece of news of Office users especially those with a Office 365 subscription. The apps are free for download and event viewing office documents is free. But editing the documents requires an active Office 365 subscription. This is clearly Microsoft’s attempt at getting more users to sign up for their cloud based Office offering.
