Blackberry Milan : First Blackberry 10 based handset leaks

Hot on the heels of the announcement of the Blackberry 10 announcement comes the first leaked handset based on the new OS. The slider which is codenamed Milan joins  the London, Lisbon and Nevada which are also part of RIM’s 2012 lineup.

RIM announces Sunil Dutt as Managing Director for India


Research In Motion (RIM) has appointed Sunil Dutt as Managing Director for India. He worked for Hewlett Packard India Sales Pte Ltd previously as President, Personal Systems Group and was responsible for expanding their business in enterprise, mid-market and consumer space. Frenny Bawa, previous Managing Director of RIM quit last month.

RIM’s first BBX phone BlackBerry London expected in Q3 2012

RIM’s first BBX smartphone might launch in Q3 2012 dubbed as BlackBerry London. The Verge got hold of a dummy device and the BGR that has confirmed from their source that it is expected in Q3 2012. They also say that the BlackBerry Colt that looked like smaller PlayBook that was leaked earlier was scrapped in favor of the new BBX device BlackBerry London. RIM to continue developing Flash Player for BlackBerry PlayBook


RIM (Research in Motion) has announced that they would continue working on and releasing its own implementations of Flash Player in the future. Yesterday, Adobe announced that it is stopping development of Flash Player for mobile browsers and mobile devices and focus more on HTML5 development. Longest BlackBerry Service Outage finally resolved , co-CEO apologizes

If you are a BlackBerry user , you might have been experiencing a tough time for the last few days with BlackBerry services such as Email and BBM not functioning in many parts of the world including India , Europe and USA.The company had initially attributed the downtime to a switch failure within it’s network. But then the network suffered downtime again due to tremendous amount of backlog of emails flowing through the system.Today RIM Founder and Co-CEO Mike Lazaridis issued a public video apology accepting responsibility for the downtime and that the company is working round the clock to address the issue.BlackBerry services seem be to back to normal in most of the affected countries. With RIM’s Blackberry Developer Conference just around the corner , rumors suggest that the company has been taking a serious look at the Android platform as well. RIM Q2 2011 results are out , 10.6 Million BlackBerry smartphones and 200,000 Playbooks shipped

Research in Motion today declared the results for the quarter ended Aug 27 2001 and the company saw revenue drop to $4.2 billion. Surprisingly the revenue from services crossed $1 billion as the BlackBerry subscriber base saw a 40% growth to cross 70 million. The company managed to ship 10.6 million smartphones and 200,000 units of the Playbook during this quarter.  Although it was not a great Q2 for RIM , it was not so bad considering the new devices like the Bold 9900 hit the stores only towards the fag end of the quarter. Hopefully Q3 will be a better quarter considering the global launch of the OS7 devices. The company has promised a QNX based mobile platform next year.

Blackberry 9790 spotted in the wild

BGR has managed to get their hands on a new Blackberry device called the 9790. The device which looks like a lower end version of the Bold 3 ie the 9900 still manages to include a decent feature set while presumably being sold at a mid range price point.

BlackBerry Torch 2 hits pre-order in UK, free on contract

Last month, Canadian mobile phone manufacturer Research In Motion launched few new BlackBerry handsets in London. BlackBerry 9810 a.k.a Torch 2 was also announced back then and it’s a successor to BB Torch which is also a very famous BlackBerry handset. Well, it’s currently available in UK for £460 (which is around $760) without contract and it’s not affordable for everyone. AT&T launching LG Thrill 4G and HTC Status this month, BlackBerry Torch 4G in August?

AT&T is one of the largest US carriers and they are offering number of Android devices. Recently, they announced two new Android devices known as HTC Status and LG Thrill 4G. HTC Status is AT&T version of HTC ChaCha which is a small device that comes with a dedicated Facebook button. On the other side, Thrill 4G is AT&T version of LG Optimus 3D which is LG’s first ever device with 3D technology.
