Samsung Galaxy S4 Active with Snapdragon 800 processor, LTE-Advanced launched in Korea

Samsung announced the Galaxy S4 Active the company’s first high-end durable Galaxy smartphone back in June, but it featured a Snapdragon 600 processor. Now Samsung has released the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active (SHV-E470S) in Korea with a Snapdragon 800 processor and LTE-Advanced support. Samsung had already launched the Galaxy S4 LTE-A with a Snapdragon 800 processor in Korea back in June, this has almost similar specifications, but this is also rugged with IP67 rating for Dust and Water Resistance. Samsung Galaxy S4 Active Water Test

Earlier this year Samsung announced the Galaxy S4 and then, to compete against the waterproof Sony Xperia Z, they introduced the Galaxy S4 Active. The S4 Active is a durable version of the Galaxy S4, with a thicker design and IP67 dust and water resistance. Traditionally durable smartphones have come with less-than-stellar specs lists but the Galaxy S4 Active aims to buck this trend.

This year has seen the rise of durable smartphones as a credible trend in the market – first we had the Xperia Z followed by the Huawei Ascend D2 and now Samsung has joined in with the new Galaxy S4 Active. The S4 Active is the durable cousin of the Galaxy S4, sharing an impressive specs list whilst also adding IP67 dustproofing and water resistance up to 1 metre for 30 minutes. Samsung has finally announced the Galaxy S4 Active the company’s latest durable Galaxy smartphone. It has a 5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) full HD TFT LCD display and not a Super AMOLED display as rumored. It is powered by a 1.9 GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean). It has IP67 rating for Dust and Water Resistance with fully sealed design keeps dust particles out and protects against water damage for up to 30 minutes of submergence. The Glove Touch lets you access the screen even with gloves and the phone comes with hardware buttons for menu, home and back similar to the Samsung Galaxy XCover phones. Samsung announced the Galaxy S4 mini earlier this week globally. We had already seen the Galaxy S4 Active in photos and video. Now we have the press image of the rugged device for AT&T, thanks to Unlockr / @evleaks. The device is codename: J Active and it would be sold under model number SGH-I537. The phone would come with a 5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) full HD Super AMOLED display, powered by a 1.9GHz quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor with Adreno 320 GPU run on Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) with Touchwiz Nature UX on top. Samsung to launch ruggedized Galaxy S4 Active, 8-inch Galaxy Tab coming in July, says WSJ

Samsung is expected to launch a ruggedized version of the Galaxy S4 that is likely to be called the Galaxy S4 Active, according to a report from the Wall Street Journal. It will be waterproof and dust proof, but it would look similar to the Galaxy S4, according to the report. It also says that the device would be launched this summer. According to a report techview.me, Young Soo Kim – President Samsung Gulf has confirmed that the ruggedized Samsung S4 would be announced in the coming weeks.
