Samsung has started rolling out Android 5.0 Lollipop update to Galaxy S5 devices in South Korea. Galaxy S5 models of Korean mobile carriers SK Telecom, KT, and LG Uplus are receiving the Lollipop update from December 5th.

Samsung’s latest flagship device, the Galaxy S5, was unveiled at the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona and eventually arrived in Indian shores earlier this week. With a sky high price of Rs. 51,500, we set out to find if the device is really worth the price. While we will let you know the conclusion in our full review of the phone, in the process, we took the really intriguing 16 MP camera for a spin. We had purchased the international variant in the US and tested the camera in and around San Francisco to see how it fared in different lighting conditions. Samsung has unveiled two new Wireless Charging covers for the Galaxy S5 in the U.S. This includes a Wireless Charging S-View Flip Cover and a Wireless Charging Cover for the Galaxy S5. Samsung would also sell the S-View Flip Cover and a Protective Cover for the handset separately. The Wireless Charging S-View Flip Cover has a leather like finish on the outside. Samsung India Country Head Vineet Taneja just confirmed that the Galaxy S5 (SM-G900H) would be powered by an Octa-Core Exynos processor in India as expected, similar to the Galaxy S4 and the Galaxy Note 3. It would be powered by a Octa-Core Exynos 5422 (A15 1.9 GHz ＋ A7 1.3 GHz) processor with ARM Mali T628 MP6 GPU and Heterogeneous Multi-Processing and has XMM6360 for HSPA+ ( up to 42 Mbps) connectivity. Since it has Heterogeneous Multi-Processing, it can run combination of up to eight cores to provide optimum performance. Samsung is all set to launch the Galaxy S5, the company’s latest flagship smartphone in India tomorrow. Now Manish Khatri from Mahesh Telecom reports that the phone would be priced at Rs. 51,500 in India and would go on pre-order starting March 28th for a pre-booking price of Rs. 1500. Samsung also plans to offer 15% Cash Back on Citibank Credit Cards with EMI of 6/12/18 months at applicable interest rates. Samsung announced their next flagship S series smartphone in MWC 2014 as Galaxy S5, and it is going to be available across 150 countries from April 11th. But just like Galaxy Note 2, India will get the Galaxy S5 before the Europe and USA. The India launch is in this week, and the date is March 27, 2014 same as Malaysian launch date. So on March 27, Galaxy S5 will get announced in India with price and exact model availability (Snapdragon or Exynos Octa Core) but the actual availability of Galaxy S5 is around April 11th globally including India. The biggest expectation of the MWC 2014 had to be Samsung’s Unpacked 5 event where they were expected to announce the successor of Samsung Galaxy S4 and they did announce it – Samsung Galaxy S5. While a lot of people weren’t convinced about the lack of design change from Samsung Galaxy S3 to Samsung Galaxy S4, even more people joined the skeptical lot as Samsung pulled a Samsung out of the hat and introduced the Samsung Galaxy S5 in a design and specs not so different from the predecessor – Galaxy S4.

Samsung unveiled the most expected Galaxy S5 smartphone at the MWC 2014 few hours back. The Samsung Galaxy S5 (SM-G900F) is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 801 (MSM8974AC) processor clocked at 2.45 GHz. A new infographic, comparing all the Galaxy S series devices on the Samsung blog reveals that the Galaxy S5 would also come in a Octa-Core variant clocked at 2.1GHz. It has a 5.1-inch full HD (1920×1080 pixels) Super AMOLED display, powered by a 2.5 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor and runs on Android 4.4 (KitKat) with Samsung own UI on top. It has a 16-megapixel rear camera with LED Flash, 4K video recording, HDR (Rich tone), Selective Focus, Virtual Tour Shot and more new features and a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera. Samsung claims that the phone has world’s fastest auto focus speed up to 0.3 seconds. It has IP67 ratings for Dust and water Resistance.
