Sony PlayStation 5 sales cross 50 million globally

Sony Corporation has announced that it has sold 50 million PlayStation 5 consoles globally since the launch. The company reported 10 million sales mark in July 2021, in 8 months of launch, making it the fastest selling PlayStation console ever, it hit 30 million mark in December 2022, and 40 million in July. Sony sold 7.8 million PlayStation 5 units till March 2021; 0.4 million smartphones in Q4 FY 2020

Sony Corporation has reported an operating profit of 971.9 billion yen, up 14.9% YoY on 2,220.4 billion yen revenue, up 26.9% YoY for the Fourth quarter of the financial year 2020 that ended March 31, 2021. It reported that sales of PlayStation 5 reached 7.8 million cumulative units as of the end of March since it started selling in November. The company sold 4.5 million in the last year, so it has added 3.3 million units in the first 3 months of this year. Sony PlayStation 5 Review: Defining the next generation of console gaming

After a year of teasing us with the design, specs and upcoming games, Sony has finally launched their next generation game console in India, the PlayStation 5. The console has been in development for many years now, and has some major upgrades over the PlayStation 4 Pro, which was released more than 4 years ago. Similar to the last generation, Sony chose AMD CPUs and GPUs to power the console, and they are significantly more powerful than any of the previous generation.

After using it for about a week, and playing some of the launch titles, here are our thoughts and review of the Sony PlayStation 5.

Sony PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Digital Edition design, new accessories and games revealed

At its online event Sony revealed the design PlayStation 5, and announced that it comes in two models, the PlayStation 5 console with an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive and a PlayStation 5 Digital Edition without a disc drive. Other features and the overall design are similar that includes USB-A port and USB-C port along with a power button. Sony PlayStation 5 specs released — AMD Zen 2 Octa-Core CPU up to 3.5GHz, 16GB DDRR6, 36CU RDNA 2 GPU

Just two days after Microsoft released the specs and design for its upcoming Xbox Series X console, Sony has come out and released the specs for its upcoming PS5. It features nearly the same internals as the Series X, with an 8-core AMD Zen 2 based CPU, RDNA 2 based GPU with 36 compute units, 16GB GDDR6 RAM, Tempest 3D audio engine and more.

Sony launched its popular console PlayStation 4 Pro and PlayStation VR in India in February 2017 and is long due for a refresh. According to fresh reports, Sony could be unveiling the next generation PlayStation with completely new hardware. It is expected to be powered by CPU from AMD, GPU, Ray Tracing, SSDs, and more features.
