Motorola Moto E Unboxing

Motorola Moto E, the latest budget smartphone from the makers of the uber popular Moto G, was launched in India, a day before yesterday, at an event in New Delhi. Priced at a lowly Rs. 6,999, India was one of the International launch markets where Motorola has pursued the same strategy as before, for its Moto X and Moto G devices. The device will sell in an online-only model through one of the most popular e-commerce retailers in the country, Flipkart. Due to this efficient distribution model, we have already got the device in our labs, for the usual testing that we do, and of course, the first thing we did was unbox it and see what it packs. We also think it will benefit the online buyers as this is the closest one can get to checking it out in person. Lava Iris 504Q+ Unboxing

Lava’s Iris 504Q, a mid range phone that released last year, came with a great screen, a decent camera and good build quality. Fast forward to now, we have its successor, the Lava Iris 504Q+, which comes with some minor changes in specifications as well as build quality and more importantly, the camera. Priced at 13,990 Rs. the Iris 504Q+ sports a 10 MP Sony sensor and an upgraded in-built storage of 8 GB, which makes it slightly better than its predecessor. Xolo Q1010i Unboxing

Xolo had launched the Q1010 back in February, but they already came back with an updated model, the Xolo Q1010i, in April, with a slightly higher price tag of Rs. 13,499. The very similar Q1010i sports an upgraded camera module, packing a Sony EXMOR R sensor, that used to be all the rage when Sony had it on the Xperia Arc, its yesteryear flagship device. Spice Stellar Mettle Icon Mi-506 Unboxing

The Indian market is one of the fastest growing smartphone markets in the world, purely driven by the barrage of entry level Android smartphones. The market is so big that even Nokia wanted a slice of it, so it is not surprising to see the unending release schedules the companies resort to. One of them is the Indian manufacturer Spice, known for its low and mid range Android smartphones. In that line, we have here the Spice Stellar Mettle Icon for unboxing. This phone, priced at a low Rs. 6,999 in the market is one of the very few phablet sized devices in that price range. From the front, it unmistakeably looks like the HTC One, sans the loudspeakers. Dell Venue 8 Unboxing

We might have reviewed the Dell Venue 8 Pro way ahead of its Indian reveal, but the tablet trio, that includes two other Android tablets, launched only a while back. Dell’s Venue 7 and 8 were Android tablets with two different screen sizes with largely the same specifications inside. Powered by an Intel processor, these tablets are placed at the mid range segment of the marketplace, which is the most popular segment for Android tablets these days. The Venue 8 is priced at Rs. 17,499, which might be a bit high when compared to the competition like the new Nexus 7, but is it good enough? Ravpower Wireless Charger Unboxing

Wireless charging has been spearheaded by the Qi Wireless Power Consortium for quite a while now, and we have seen phone manufacturers implement the standard in many of their high end phones. Nokia X Unboxing in India

Nokia X is the first smartphone from the Espoo company running Android, and more importantly, Android apps. It was launched in India just a day back for a price of Rs. 8,599/-. “X” is symbolic in many ways. the company is now at the cross roads of a transition from being an independent company to being owned by Microsoft, the maker of software running on Nokia’s current smartphones. X is also the bridge between Nokia’s struggling smartphone business and its traditional feature phone business. Lenovo Vibe Z Unboxing

The Lenovo K900 was the Chinese company’s first flagship launch in India. It had really good specifications for a high end phone and launched at a competitive price, only to then get lesser and suddenly turn into a really good value for money device. We had been waiting for its successor for quite a while now, and now it has come in the form of the Lenovo Vibe Z, which aims to fill the gap the K900 has left in the Indian market. The Vibe Z was announced in India just a couple of days back, at an event which we attended. It has been priced at Rs. 35,999, which is very close to what the K900 was launched for. Sony Xperia Z1 Compact Unboxing and First Impressions

Sony launched the Xperia Z1 Compact, as the “mini” variant of its flagship device, the Xperia Z1 sometime back. It was the Z1f(launched in Japan) for the world and was almost immediately heralded as the best compact Android device yet. Samsung and other companies like HTC have been playing the “mini” game for a generation or two, in which they would release a device that is identical to the flagship, but saddled by poorer specifications and obvious cost cutting, but Sony has done the inevitable, a smaller flagship, with deservedly flagship level specifications and a worthy competitor to the Apple iPhone, which still remains the only small-ish flagship product in the world. It was sold out in less than an hour, and a lot of buyers were left frustrated with delays, but it still has quickly become the most popular mid range phone in the market. LG G Flex Unboxing in India

LG G Flex, the pioneering flexible phone with a curved screen, was officially launched in India yesterday. This is out and out a technological showcase product from LG, with innovations like a flexible display, body and battery brought to the table. It also features all the high end features that one would expect from a flagship device, but is also a phablet with a 6″ screen. Basically, this is the pinnacle of LG’s engineering prowess, which might actually end up setting the precedent for a whole lot of devices in the future.
