The release date for this phone is still up in the air (rumor has it dropping either next month or early Q4) but we’re glad to see a revision.

Motorola ZN4 Official

The Verizon-exclusive Motorola ZN4 that was leaked a few days ago has just been made official. It’s a CDMA handset (ie no SIM card) and features the full touchscreen glass-flip design we told you about earlier. It’ll retail around the 150$. Even though this handset won’t make it outside of Verizon, it’s a sign that Motorola are working on touchscreen handsets, and the ZN4 might be the first result of these efforts. We’ll keep an eye on the ZN4 to see how the OS actually performs, in order to predict whether their following touchscreen handsets will be worthwhile or not.

Verizon Wireless – Use any app and any device from 2008

Some good news for Verizon wireless users. You might no longer need to stick to the devices offered by Verizon.

Come 2008 , you might be able to use Any App Any Device according to a company press release.

This is a seen as move to tackle the Android – gphone launch and also Apple’s 3G iPhone plans.

But wait there’s a catch. These devices need to be tested and approved in a 20 million facility.

Any device that meets the minimum technical standard will be activated on the network.

More information is expected in early 2008.

Interesting note : Verizon is not part of the Google open handset alliance 

Samsung U900 FlipShot from Verizon

Verizon, the American wireless network operator launched the Samsung U900 FlipShot with a two year term contract on 22 November 2007.

The handset has cutting edge features such as 3 mega pixel camera, Camcorder, PictBridge printing, business card  scanner, QVGA screen and stereo Bluetooth support. Through Verizon’s supporting network and services, users will be able to their VZ Navigator, V CAST Music and Video.

The camera has a rotating display for optimal viewing while in camera mode for optimal photo capturing comfort.

Rumor Verizon Mobile Music Service Disables MP3s

Rumors have recently begun circulating about an annoying potential drawback of Verizon s V Cast mobile music store, which is set to be launched on January 16th.

Rumors have recently begun circulating about an annoying potential drawback of Verizon?s V Cast mobile music store, which is set to be launched on January 16th.

Apparently, handsets will no longer be able to play MP3 music files after being upgraded to work with the V Cast service. This is reportedly due to an agreement with Microsoft saying that to use Windows Media software with the service, Verizon would have to agree to make phones exclusive to the WMA file format.

Nokia’s First EV-DO Phone Slips Out Of FCC

The FCC today cleared Nokia’s first handset entry into the EV-DO market. The 6305i is a slider-style phone with a 1.3 Megapixel camera, stereo speakers but does not appear to have advanced features like Bluetooth or even a memory card slot.

The 6305i is a slider-style phone with a 1.3 Megapixel camera, stereo speakers but does not appear to have advanced features like Bluetooth or even a memory card slot. Although the 6305i bears the Nokia logo it is made by SK Teletech – the first product of a manufacturing agreement announced in March. Further separating the 6305i from other Nokias, it will use Verizon’s proprietary menus and interface instead of Nokia Series 40.
