Swarm check-in app lands on Windows Phone

Swarm, the new check-in app from Foursquare has now landed on Windows Phone. The app which was separated from Foursquare with some core feature was first announced in May. Windows Phone users can now access the Swarm app that is already available on Android and the iPhone.

HTC could announce One W8 running on Windows Phone 8.1 at press event on August 19th

Yesterday, there were reports stating that HTC will announce its upcoming flagship device the One W8 on August 20th and launch it on August 21st. However, today HTC has sent out press invites for an event on August 19th. It is anticipated that the company will announce a Windows Phone based on the HTC One (M8) design.

Fitbit comes to Windows Phone 8.1

Users of Windows Phone devices have long been left out of the fitness bands and wearables group due to lack of official applications on the platform. Earlier this year, Microsoft had claimed that it was working on changing that. With the Windows Phone 8.1 update, the mobile operating system got much improved bluetooth support including much needed Bluetooth LE support which is most important for low power wearables. Flipkart accidentally ships Android Xolo Q900s instead of Windows Phone model

In a surprising incident, a customer who had ordered Windows Phone powered Xolo Q900s has received an Android variant of the same device from Flipkart. Xolo unveiled the Android version of the Q900s last week almost a month after launching a Windows model of the same variant.

Uber rolls out Windows Phone app

After launching on iOS and Andorid, Uber has parked its car at the Windows Phone Store. The popular on demand car service has officially announced the release of Windows Phone. Prior to this, Uber users had to access the service via its mobile site. The Uber Windows Phone app is mostly similar to its iOS and Android counterpart barring few Microsoft Metro UI redesign.
