Xiaomi has surpassed Samsung in the largest smartphone market in India in the Q4 2017 to become the number one brand, according to a report from Cybermedia Research. Xiaomi outshined Samsung in Maharashtra which alone amounted to 13.7% of the sales during the last quarter of 2017. According to CMR, Xiaomi sold over 31.2% of the Smartphones during the period compared to Samsung which sold 15.3%. According to IDC, the worldwide wearables market continued to grow in both the Q4 and whole of 2017 with the total shipments reaching a new record. Apple moved past Fitbit and Xiaomi to become the leader in the wearable market worldwide. The total volumes of the quarter reached 37.9 million units, which is up 7.7% from the 35.2 million units shipped YoY. Reliance Jio is said to be in talks with Xiaomi for exclusive rights to sell smartphones and TVs in India similar to what it has with Apple. Apple has regained the top spot in the wearable market in Q3 2017 with 3.9 million shipments and it is the strongest quarter for Apple in 2017, all thanks to the recently launched Apple Watch 3 with LTE support, reveals a new report from Canalys. Samsung is still leading the top five smartphone vendors in the world which is followed by Apple and Huawei. According to Canalys, Apple’s iPhone 7 is the best selling model worldwide with over 13 Million units shipped and the iPhone 6s next to it with 7.9 Million units.
Xiaomi is growing at a phase that no one would have imagined. The company has sold over 10 Million units in October 2017 for the second month in a row. The total shipments of the company now crossed over 70 Million units for the first ten months of this year, thus surpassing the target set for 2017, said Lei Jun, Xiaomi’s founder, and CEO.
