Sony IFA 2013 Press Conference Live Blog

FoneArena is live in Berlin , Germany for IFA which is one of the largest technology shows of the world. Sony is holding a press conference later today where the company is expected to announce the much rumored Honami / XPERIA Z1 smartphone and a couple of very interesting lenses. Much is already known about the Sony Z1 and it is said to pack in a Snapdragon 800 processor with a very interesting 20MP camera. The design is believed to be a play on that of the Xperia Z and Z Ultra.

The event starts at around 4PM Berlin time or 7:30PM India time

Sony Xperia SP Unboxing

Sony announced the Xperia SP last month and its finally available in retail. We’ve been playing with the handset for a few days now but before we publish our review, here’s a quick unboxing to pique your interest!

Sony-Xperia-SP-1In terms of specifications, the handset is powered by a dual core 1.7Ghz processor. An 8MP camera can be spotted at the back. Running on Android Jelly Bean, the handset has a 4.6 inch 720p display. A very cool feature of the handset is its color changing led strip at the bottom. We’ll have more on that in the review. Sony Xperia Z Review

A few weeks back, Sony announced its 2013 flagship device i.e. the Xperia Z. Quite possibly the best designed Sony handset ever, it combines impeccable craftsmanship with performance worthy of a class leading device. Sony has also attempted to build on its heritage of mobile, gaming and imaging by building components of each of those pillars into its device. It is a new design language which makes erstwhile gorgeous Sony handsets appear rather pedestrian. However in the weeks that have followed, both HTC and Samsung have revealed their plans for the year ahead which has allowed us to add a bit of perspective to our review. Sony Xperia Tablet Z Hands On

At its press event in Barcelona, Sony showed off its brand new Android tablet, the Sony Xperia Tablet Z. Equipped with a gorgeous 10.1″ WUXGA display, the tablet also has Sony’s Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2 built in.

The screen with a resolution of 1900 x 1200 looks absolutely stunning especially when the Mobile Bravia engine kicks in for photos and videos. Sony XPERIA Tablet Z announced for Japan

The XPERIA Tablet Z which was rumoured to launch at CES 2013 has finally got officially announced for the Japanese market today. This sexy looking Android tablet is barely 6.9mm thick and weighs around 495 grams. It is also dustproof and waterproof to a certain extent. The display is 10.1 inches in size and features the Mobile Bravia Engine found on most Sony mobile products these days. The resolution on the display is an impressive 1920×1200 pixels.The design looks very similar to the XPERIA Z and ZL smartphones we saw at CES 2013. Sony Xperia SL officially launched at Rs 32,549 in India

Alongside the Xperia Miro, Sony has also launched the Xperia SL here in India today. The phone is powered by a 1.7Ghz dual core Qualcomm MSM8260 Snapdragon processor. The screen is a 720p 4.3″ display and includes a Mobile Bravia engine to boost image quality in videos and the gallery. It went on sale in India back in September. Sony Xperia miro officially launched in India at Rs. 15,249

Sony today launched its latest Xperia handset the Xperia miro in India at a price point of Rs. 15,249. The  specifications include a 3.5″ display with a resolution of 320×480. You can find a 5MP camera over at the back  of the device which is capable of recording at 30FPS. A front facing camera is also included for video calls. Sony opens PlayStation Mobile for HTC devices

PlayStation mobile is a cross-platform gaming service which was previously accessible only by  certified devices like the PS Vita and the various Android powered Xperia devices and tablets. Now Sony is opening their service to devices by other manufacturers and their website states they will be supporting a few of the HTC devices.

Water resistant Sony Xperia V launched, Comes with onboard LTE

As part of its next generation Xperia lineup, Sony just announced the Sony Xperia V. The USP of the device is that it has the highest level of water resistance available in a smartphone. The phone is equipped with LTE. The phone runs on a dual core processor clocked at 1.5Ghz.
