The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 was the star of the IFA 2013 in Berlin and it was announced along with a lot of accessories. The Galaxy S4 was the first device to have the S-View cover which not only protected the device, but had a small window to let you peek at the screen for important information. The Samsung Galaxy S4 Google Play Edition was launched with much anticipation, as to how it will work and how the updates will roll out. While the immediate roll out of 4.3 inspired confidence there was always a worry that buying the S4 Google Play Edition will strip out all the important features of TouchWiz. While that still stands true, we found that one neat feature of the TouchWiz enabled S4 still works for the Google Play Edition, and that is the S4 View Cover functionality. Our initial impressions of the device echoed the same thoughts but what makes it an even greater camera is the accessory that released along with the device. The Nokia Lumia 820 is at the fag end of its life cycle, waiting to be succeeded by a more capable Lumia 825 or something, but it is still present in the hands of lots of people, who unanimously face the single most annoying issue on the 820, the disappointing battery life. I know I face it, because I have been using one for the past 7 months and I can tell you outright that the in-built 1650 mAh battery is bad, period.
Seeking respite from the incessant battery drains, my eyes grew wide when the well known Android “extended battery” maker, Mugen Power Batteries, announced that huge extended batteries for the Lumia 820 are in the works. There were two variants announced, and one of them was the 3600 mAh one with a special battery door. Needless to say, I got the biggest one. What follows is my experience with the accessory over a comfortably long term of 2 months to see if it is really worth it or not.

The LG G2 had been officially confirmed as the upcoming flagship phone from LG, but hasn’t seen a proper unveiling yet. But that hasn’t stopped the company from releasing an accessory called “Quick Window” for the phone, which is launching in New York on August 7th. The accessory, which works just like the Samsung S-View cover for the Galaxy S4, literally offers a quick window into some basic functions and lets you access some mini apps. Sporting various colours, as noted from the image above, the cover will presumably launch to retail along with the device itself.

The Nokia Lumia 620 just launched in India, and for all you prospective buyers or owners, a good news is that Nokia just announced a rugged shell CC-3061 for the device with IP 54 dust and water protection. This shell is not a cover, not a pouch, but a replaceable shell that can just swap with your present one. The shell can withstand dust and splashes of water defined by the Ingress Protection rating of IP 54. It is slated to be available within a month.

LG has released new Quick Cover case for the Optimus G in Korea. They come in 7 colors, including 5 shiny variants and two patterned variants. The Quick Cover case has a semiconductor device mounted on a magnetic substance on the cover, that makes the screen turn off immediately when closed, and wake up immediately when opened.
