Telegram has begun rolling a new update to their instant messaging app on iOS and Android which adds support for multiple new features such as the ability to have group video calls with up to a 1000 participants, higher quality video messages, screen sharing with sound, improved chat animations and more.
In 2020, we witnessed a massive surge in video calls, which spurred many messaging services to improve upon their video calling capabilities. Telegram will soon be adding video calls support into their voice chat feature, complete with features such as screen-sharing, encryption and more.

Telegram has released a new update to their Android and iOS apps, bringing the version to 7.4.0. In the update, Telegram is adding the ability to import chats from a few other messaging apps, more chat deletion options, a few improvements to voice chats and some new app animations on Android.
Telegram CEO and Founder Pavel Durov in a blogpost announced that Telegram has added 25 million new users globally in the last 72 hours alone. It surpassed 500 million monthly active users in the first week of January. The new rise is due to the new update to WhatsApp’s privacy policy which the company clarified later after backlash from people. Several users moved to Telegram and Signal.
