Twitter Spaces, which is their implementation of an audio chat room feature, has now begun rolling out widely after completing its test phase. Twitter accounts that have 600 or more followers can now create their own “Space” and talk about a particular topic or simply have a conversation with their followers.

You can now upload and view images in 4K on Twitter for iOS and Android
In March, Twitter began testing a feature in the beta versions of iOS and Android apps that would allow users to upload and view images on the platform in a higher resolution, specifically in 4K. The feature is now rolling out globally to all users in the stable version of the Twitter app.

You can now add GIFs and emoji to Fleets on Twitter
Fleets, a feature on Twitter that allows users to post temporary content that disappears after 24-hours, is getting a new update that will allow users to add gifs, stickers and emoji, making them more fun and personalized. The feature is rolling out today on Twitter app for both iOS and Android users.

Twitter to soon show bigger, uncropped images in Timeline and allow higher-res image upload
Over the years, Twitter has evolved from a social media platform that solely was based on simple text to a platform that is rich in media, both photo and video. During their 2021 Analyst Day presentation, the developers of Twitter revealed that they are working on a new feature for the platform called Safety Mode. Twitter begins testing voice DMs on Android and iOS in India, Brazil and Japan
Twitter is testing a new feature in their direct message (DM) service called voice messages. The feature, which will allow users to send messages that are a maximum of 140 seconds, was previously being tested with a small set of users, and is now rolling out in phases in a few countries.

Twitter records $1.29 Billion in revenue in Q4 2020; 192 million monetizable Daily Active users
Twitter has released their earnings report for the 4th quarter of 2020, revealing that the company earned a revenue of $1.29 billion, which in an increase of 28% compared to Q4 2019. The company saw their average monetizable DAU grow by 27% YoY, reaching 192 million. GAAP operating income was $252 million compared to $153 million a year ago and GAAP operating margin was 20% compared to 15% in Q4 2019.
Twitter may introduce subscription based features for Tweetdeck and other services
Twitter is reportedly looking into releasing a subscription based model that will be an alternative to the advertisement-supported model that they currently employ. They are still looking into what can be offered for a subscription, including the ability for users to pay to follow content from certain accounts, an “Undo send” button, profile customization options and more.
Twitter acquires social podcast app Breaker to help with Spaces
Last month, Twitter began beta testing a new audio-based platform called Spaces for a limited set of users. To help with its development, Twitter has acquired Breaker, which is another podcast app that has some community and social elements.
