Twitter will now block links to hateful conduct and violence

Starting 30th July, Twitter will start blocking links to content that involve hateful conduct and violence, that have been shared on their platform. Along with this, Twitter may also choose to take action against the accounts that dedicated towards share links that goes against Twitter’s policy.

Twitter records $683 million in revenue; average mDAU of $186 million in Q2 2020

Twitter has released their earnings release for the second quarter of 2020, reporting a growth of 34% YoY in Monetizable Daily Active Usage (mDAU) at $186 million, thanks to the increase in conversation around current global events. Revenue, however, was recorded at $683 million for Q2 2020, which calculates to a decline of 19% compared to the same period last year.

Twitter temporarily removes ability to tweet due to social engineering attack

Yesterday, multiple users on Twitter, including those with verified accounts, reported being unable to tweet from their account or reset their account’s password. Twitter has revealed that they limited these functionalities as a security measure in response to a social engineering attack that was aimed at promoting a Bitcoin scam.

Android 11 Conversations and Bubbles on Facebook and Twitter previewed

Google released its Android 11 Beta to the public on June 10th, and one among its major updates was a change where all conversations from messaging apps were grouped into a dedicated space in the Notifications screen. Google has now announced collaborations with Facebook and Twitter to help integrate Messenger and Twitter DMs respectively with Android 11’s Conversations API.

Twitter Fleets expands testing to India on iOS and Android

Earlier this year, Twitter started testing a new feature that is similar to Snapchat called “Fleets”, in Brazil and Italy. The feature allowed users to capture their ideas and momentary thoughts in the form of temporary posts that disappear after 24 hours. Today they announced that Twitter will be expanding the testing of Fleets to India.

Twitter has announced a new feature in their tweet composer for the web that lets users save drafts of tweets that they want to complete later and also let them schedule send tweets at a time of their choosing.
