Amazon Prime Music launched, streams a million plus tracks to Prime users

Its been rumored for a while now and today Amazon finally lifted the veil from its own take at a music streaming service. If initial impressions are anything to go by, the service doesn’t even aim at competing with the likes of Spotify and Rdio.

Available for free to Prime users, the service comes more of an added incentive than the primary reason to subscribe. The music library is very restricted compared to the competition and actually streaming music seems to be a tedious process. Amazon has updated its Kindle app for iOS and Android with Audible audiobook integration. This will enable users to seamlessly switch between reading and listening to their favorite books without leaving the app.

Amazon 3D smartphone’s face sensing technology reportedly powered by Okao Vision

Amazon is expected to launch its 3D smartphone on June 18th and more details about the phone are now surfacing. According to a TechCrunch report, face sensing technology in the 3D smartphone will be powered by Omron’s Okao Vision technology.

Amazon’s smartphone revealed in new render

We all know about Amazon’s foray in the smartphone market as few details have already surfaced online. Last month images of the 4.7 inch phone with six cameras were leaked. This was followed by another report suggesting that the phone will have tilt based gesture control. Today BGR has revealed a new image of the Amazon smartphone that is ready for a June launch, according to WSJ report.

Amazon is supposedly working on Android smartphone whose specifications were leaked earlier this month. Today some more details about the phone were revealed by BGR. The smartphone that is expected to launch in June will enable users to control the device by simply tilting it around in different directions.

Amazon and Samsung team up for custom Kindle for Samsung app, offers free eBooks for Galaxy devices

Samsung and Amazon have entered into a partnership to launch Kindle for Samsung, a custom eBook service for Samsung Galaxy devices to offer books, newspapers and magazines, including over 500,000 exclusive titles. Amazon now automatically saves documents sent to Kindle to Cloud Drive

Amazon has integrated Kindle documents to its own Cloud drive thereby by giving its users 10 GB Amazon Cloud storage, in addition to 5GB of storage. Kindle owners received an email from Amazon informing them that all documents sent to Kindle are now stored on Amazon Cloud Drive.

Amazon smartphone to launch in June says Wall Street Journal

Rumors around the long awaited Amazon smartphone have been floating around for years now but The Wall Street Journal has now gone on record to say that it should be expected this June. Amazon is believed to be showing off prototypes to developers in SFO and Seattle to gain support for its rather unique hardware. While showing 3D content on a phone has been done before, Amazon will be the first to include retina tracking technology that will largely be handled using the four front facing cameras that it will include. Amazon acquires digital comic platform ComiXology

Amazon has bought digital comic book store ComiXology for an undisclosed sum. Founded in 2007, ComiXology has a collection of digital comic books from more than 75 publishers. It boasts of graphic novels from popular publishers like Marvel and DC along with many independent creators.

It is powered by a 1.7 GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 pro processor, 2GB RAM and has 8GB of internal storage. It runs on Android-based OS Fire OS called Mojito, similar to the Kindle Fire tablets. Amazon Kindle devices have been on sale in India for sometime now and today, Amazon is introducing EMI offers for the same. Streaming devices are becoming a thing as Roku’s streaming stick and Google’s Chromecast have seen considerable success.
