Soon after Flipkart announced that it has secured $1 billion in latest funding, Amazon has revealed that it is investing $2 billion in India. The e-commerce firm stated that the funds would be used to support its rapid growth and continue to enhance the customer and seller experience in India.

Amazon to open five new fulfillment centers in India

Amazon has announced that it plans to open five more Fulfillment Centers (FCs) in Delhi, Chennai, Jaipur, Ahmedabad and Tauru (outskirts of Gurgaon). The move comes from the e-commerce giant to enhance its services to its customers.

Amazon offers over $100 worth of paid apps free for two days

Amazon today announced that it would offer paid Android apps worth over $100 for free on the Amazon AppStore for two days, Friday 27th and Saturday 28th June. This includes some popular apps and games under different categories such as Fun, Travel and Remote Office apps. There are 31 app in the list, and these are usually priced between US$0.99 and US$ 9.99. All you need to do is just get the Amazon App Store from here and sideload it on your Android device. Amazon unveils the Fire Phone with 2.2Ghz Quad Core processor, 2GB RAM onboard

At an event in Seattle, Amazon finally pulled the veil off its much awaited smartphone. Called the Fire Phone, it is meant to capitalize on the digital ecosystem that the company has created around the likes of its Kindle hardware and the new Fire TV. The phone runs a forked version of Android which at first glance appears to be very similar to the one on Amazon’s tablet efforts.

BlackBerry’s latest move brings Amazon Appstore to BB10 platform

Despite BlackBerry’s multiple attempts to create a developer ecosystem around the BlackBerry 10 platform, uptake has been slow. The company tried to get around this by offering an Android runtime. Developers were also free to port their Android applications and bring it to the BlackBerry application store. Savvy users could also sideload APK files directly. Report: AT&T to be exclusive carrier for Amazon smartphone

Amazon is scheduled to host an event on 18th June where it is expected to reveal its upcoming smartphone. The device will distinguish itself from the competition through the use of a special 3D interface that will make use of retina tracking technology.

The technology will allow users to navigate the interface through the use of four cameras embedded along the corners of the phone. This will allow for a glasses free experience. The device will be revealed at the company’s event in Seattle later this week. Amazon is already courting developers to adopt and make applications for the unique interface used on the smartphone. While little is known of the specifications of the device, the handset will be neck deep in the Amazon ecosystem and will most likely be sold at or near cost similar to the company’s tablet offerings. Amazon App Store triples in a year, houses 2,40,000 apps

Amazon has revealed some numbers about its app store just a day before its possible 3D smartphone launch. The company said that it has nearly tripled the number of apps in its app store which now boasts of 2,40,000 apps. Amazon stated that the app store is available in 200 countries.

Amazon Prime Music launched, streams a million plus tracks to Prime users

Its been rumored for a while now and today Amazon finally lifted the veil from its own take at a music streaming service. If initial impressions are anything to go by, the service doesn’t even aim at competing with the likes of Spotify and Rdio.

Available for free to Prime users, the service comes more of an added incentive than the primary reason to subscribe. The music library is very restricted compared to the competition and actually streaming music seems to be a tedious process. Amazon’s smartphone revealed in new render

We all know about Amazon’s foray in the smartphone market as few details have already surfaced online. Last month images of the 4.7 inch phone with six cameras were leaked. This was followed by another report suggesting that the phone will have tilt based gesture control. Today BGR has revealed a new image of the Amazon smartphone that is ready for a June launch, according to WSJ report.

Amazon and Samsung team up for custom Kindle for Samsung app, offers free eBooks for Galaxy devices

Samsung and Amazon have entered into a partnership to launch Kindle for Samsung, a custom eBook service for Samsung Galaxy devices to offer books, newspapers and magazines, including over 500,000 exclusive titles.
