Gionee Elife E7 Review: Best in class

The Elife E7 is Gionee’s first flagship smartphone that is aimed at the premium high end segment of the market. The device is powered by the powerful Snapdragon 800 processor and sports a seemingly good 16 MP camera, which brings it closer to the likes of other flagships like Nexus 5 and the even the S5 to an extent, but offers a price advantage making it one of the best VFM products out there. Gionee Elife E7 Camera Samples

The Elife E7 is Gionee’s first real attempt at cracking the top end segment of the market, a really good one at that. We had unboxed this flagship device earlier, after it launched in the Indian market with an attractive price tag of Rs. 29,999. Being a flagship, it comes with specifications that resemble one, and that includes the massive camera module at the back, which houses a large sensor from Omnivision and an equally large lens unit from Largan, a precision manufacturer from China. It is powered by quad-core Snapdragon 800 (MSM8974) 28nm HPm Krait 400 CPU clocked at 2.15 GHz with Adreno 330 GPU. Gionee, one of the popular Chinese smartphone manufacturers launched the Elife E7 in India at the end of last year. It went on sale across India recently. The company’s latest flagship smartphone in the Elife series features a 5.5-inch full HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, 16-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 8-megapixel front-facing camera. It starts at Rs. 26,999, bit higher than their predecessor, the Gionee Elife E6, but it is cheaper when compared to other smartphones in similar range. Gionee introduced the Elife S5.5, the world’s slimmest smartphone at just 5.55 mm thickness at an event in China last week. The company showcased the device at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this week, and we got some time to check out the slimmest device. The phone has a 5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD Super AMOLED touch screen display from Japan Display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Microsoft partners with 9 more manufacturers for more Windows Phones

One of the main reasons that Windows Phones haven’t sold as much as Android smartphones is because of the lack of manufacturers. At launch, Microsoft had only a handful of manufacturers and as Windows Phone grew, the number of manufacturers shrunk and at one point, Microsoft bought out Nokia, which was probably the only company making Windows Phones.

Gionee has just announced the Elife S5.5, the company’s thinnest smartphone at an event in China. It is said to be the world’s thinnest phone that has 5.5mm thin magnesium alloy frame. It has a 5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD Super AMOLED touch screen display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The display module is just 0.55mm thick and the back cover is 0.40mm thick, that is also protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3, making the phone very slim. It It is powered by a 1.7 GHz Octa-core MediaTek MT6592 processor and runs on Android 4.2 with Amigo 2.0 UI on top. Gionee has launched the Elife E7 mini in India along with the Elife E7. It has a 4.7-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) IPS display, powered by a 1.7 GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6592 processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) with Amigo UI 2.0. It packs a 13-megapixel swivel camera, just like the Oppo N1. It packs 1GB RAM and comes with 2100 mAh battery. It is powered by a 2.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 MSM8974 processor with 2GB or 3GB of RAM.
