Google Navigation will come to iPhone, but only if Apple approves

Google which announced Google Maps Navigation for Android 2.0 yesterday, told today that Navigation could also come to the iPhone, if and only if Apple approves it.

In an article to AppleInsider yesterday, Google said “Apple is a close partner, we would like to support the iPhone with Maps Navigation. Millions of users experience Google Maps on the iPhone. We will continue to work with Apple to bring innovation, including Latitude and Navigation, to users but you will have to speak to Apple about its availability”. Google Sync: Now with push Gmail support

Its been a while that Google, the search giant, launched Google sync which allows you to synchronize your Gmail Contacts and Google Calendar with your iPhone, Windows Mobile, and S60 devices.

Google, today added Gmail support to Google Sync for iPhone, iPod Touch and Windows Mobile devices. This will surely help people who want push notification support on their iPhones as Google sync just offers the same. So users who like to keep their inbox updated just need an always-on connection.

Android 1.6 SDK is now available for download

Donut

The Android Team has just released its SDK for Android 1.6 codenamed “The Donut”.

So whats new in the “The Donut“:

  1. It now has support for both CDMA as well as GSM.
  2. It now supports more screen resolutions, which in return will allow Android apps to work on more devices.
  3. The new APIs include a gestures framework and text-to-speech engine.
  4. Donut now provides access to the new and improved Android Market.
  5. It now provides a Quick Search Box for Donut Users, which allows searching directly from the home screen with suggested results while a person is typing.

Devices with Android 1.6 running are expected to be out as early as October ’09. Apps developed for older versions of Android will continue to run on Android 1.6. However do test your existing apps on the Android 1.6 SDK to make sure they run as expected.

Android Team also added that over the next several weeks, they will publish a series of blog posts to help the developers get ready for the new developer technologies in Android 1.6.  The topics on which posts will be covered are:

  1. How to adapt your applications to support different screen sizes
  2. Integrating with Quick Search Box
  3. Building gestures into your apps and
  4. Using the text-to-speech engine.

HTC Leo and Click Leaked!

This is supposed to be a Touchscreen Windows Mobile phone. It will come with Windows Mobile 6.5 pre installed. The features can be seen in the picture below:

The release date for the Leo is not known. the handset might also be released under a different name as Leo could just be a codename.

the HTC Click is a low-cost Android based smartphone. Specifications are unknown but we will let you know if they arise.

Google G0 Android Concept Phone

The Google G0 Android Phone is a concept created by designer Tryi-Yeh. The design is very exclusive and sexy. The phone is a touchscreen phone with it’s screen dominating the full front of the device. The device isn’t flat and is in the shape on an arc. The rear side of the device has some good patterns that give better grip on the device and also an interesting Google logo. The device appears to be built mostly out of glass and metal. Get HTC Hero SenseUI Interface on T-Mobile G1

Well just recently HTC announced their Hero phone which has a unique SenseUI. The HTC Hero is the only handset at present featuring the HTC SenseUI. But some folks have managed to get the UI running on a Android phone such as the HTC Dream/T-Mobile G1. All you have to do is reflash your phone with the SuperHERO ROM. The ROM actually has a part of the HTC Hero’s firmware and the main thing is that Multi-Touch gets added.
