LG Optimus GT540 Gets Android 2.1 Update

LG Optimus GT540 users have a reason to cheer, since LG recently announced that an Android OS update is available for the Optimus GT540 smartphone.

LG Optimus GT540 users have a reason to cheer, since LG recently announced that an Android OS update is available for the Optimus GT540 smartphone. This handset originally runs on the Android 1.6 OS, but now it will be updated to the Android 2.1 Operating System.

The upgrade will enable the following on your handset:

  • Android Eclair (2.1)
  • Multiple Accounts
  • Quick Contacts Interface
  • HTML5 Support in Browser
  • Microsoft Exchange Support
  • Live Wallpapers
  • Bluetooth 2.1 Support

You will need to update your handset manually since this update is not available Over-The-Air (OTA). It is advised to backup all your data before updating the device. To learn more, head over to this page.

LG Optimus One P500 Unboxing

Here are some unboxing pictures and a video of the LG Optimus One (P500) which landed at the FoneArena HQ earlier this week. LG calls this device a transitional smartphone and it packs a 3.2 inch capacitive touchscreen , is powered by 600MHz processor along with a 1500mAh battery. It sports a 3 MP Camera on the back. Since it runs on FroYo out of the box you can use the phone as a WiFi hotspot.

LG Optimus GT540 Review: Hardware

A few days ago we had the LG Optimus arrive at our office for review and we even had an unboxing of the LG Optimus.

The LG Optimus is an inexpensive Android offering from LG, designed to fit into that sweet spot of sub 15k price point.
