LG to outsource budget smartphone models to make up for massive losses

LG smartphone division continues to struggle as the company has reported consecutive losses for the past 22 months now. In an effort to make up for the losses, the mobile phone division has been reorganized, with an increase in the outsourcing of mid-range and low-end smartphones to external companies.

LG Cinebeam Laser 4K projector with up to 300-inch projection, webOS 5.0 starts rolling out

LG introduced its new CineBeam 4K Laser projector (HU810PW)  at the IFA couple of months back, now it has started rolling out the projector from South Korea. It supports  4K (3,840×2,160) UHD resolution with a 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio, brightness of 2,700 ANSI-Lumen and meets 97%  DCI-P3 colour gamut. The screen size can be adjusted from 40 inches (about 1 meter diagonally) to 300 inches (about 7.62 meters diagonally), so it can be used in various spaces. LG just launched the W11, W31 and W31+ smartphones as successors of last year’s W10 and W30 and W31+ phones in India. These have 6.52-inch HD+ FullVision screens with an 8MP camera inside the notch, run Android 10, and pack a 4000mAh battery.  The LG W31/W31+ sports 13MP with PDAF, 5MP Ultra-wide, and 2MP Depth Sensor. LG said to launch rollable smartphone in early 2021; codenamed Project B

LG’s Explorer Project first saw a smartphone release this year with the LG Wing, an unconventional device with two screens, of which one could be swiveled sideways to reveal the second one. The program is reportedly in the process of developing a second smartphone for the coming year, codenamed Project B, with a unique pull-out design.

LG’s Q3 2020 profits up 87.7% YoY, Mobile losses narrow

LG Electronics has reported revenues of 16.92 trillion won (US$ 14.24 billion) for the third quarter that ended September 30, 2020, which is up 7.77% compared to the same quarter last year. It posted profits of 959 billion won (US$ 807.14 million), up 22.72% YoY, while net profit was up 87.79% YoY to 649.2 billion won. LG VELVET with 6.8-inch FHD+ OLED display, Snapdragon 845 launched in India for Rs. 36990

LG has launched VELVET, the company’s latest mid-range 4G smartphone in India. Compared to the 5G version that is powered by Snapdragon 765G, the 4G version gets the Snapdragon 845 SoC. Other specifications are similar, including a 6.8-inch 20.5: 9 aspect ratio Cinema FullVision Full HD+ OLED display with Waterdrop Camera that houses a 16-megapixel camera, 6GB of RAM and a Waterdrop Camera camera design in which 48MP main + 8MP ultra-wide + 5MP depth triple rear cameras and a flash are arranged in a vertical direction as if water droplets are falling. LG just launched WING, the company’s unique dual-screen smartphone in India as it had promised. It packs a 6.8-inch P-OLED FullVision main screen and a 3.9 inch FHD+ hidden Second Screen that lets you use the phone in Swivel Mode in which the entire front of the phone rotates clockwise 90 degrees allowing users to interact with the Second Screen while content plays uninterrupted on the Main Screen.
