LG has announced Q61, the company’s latest smartphone in the Q series in Korea. It was introduced for the global markets as K61 back in February this year. LG already confirmed that LG VELVET on May 7th in an online event and also confirmed the specifications of the smartphone. LG Electronics has reported revenues of 14.73 trillion won (US$ 12.45 billion) for the fourth quarter that ended March 31, 2020, which is down 1.25% compared to the same quarter last year. It posted profits of 1.09 billion won (US$ 921.47 million), up 21% YoY, making this only the second time in history when quarterly operating profit exceeded KRW 1 trillion, while net profit was up 88% YoY to 1086.7 billion won (US$ 717 billion). The 7.4 percent operating margin was the highest in LG’s history for a first quarter. This is due to strong performance in home appliance and TV businesses. LG already confirmed that it will introduce its first mid-range 5G smartphone – LG VELVET on May 7th in an online event. Today the company has revealed the specifications of the smartphone that includes a 6.8-inch 20.5: 9 aspect ratio Cinema FullVision FHD+ OLED display with Waterdrop Camera that houses a 16-megapixel camera, Snapdragon 765G with support for 5G, 8GB of RAM and a Waterdrop Camera that is a design in which 48MP main + 8MP ultra-wide + 5MP depth triple rear cameras and a flash are arranged in a vertical direction as if water droplets are falling. LG has finally confirmed its VELVET smartphone in an online event in Korea on May 7th before it goes on sale mid-May. LG has announced Folder 2, the company’s latest Android flip phone and the successor of the first Folder that was introduced back in 2018. It has a 2.8-inch QVGA screen when you flip open and there is also a 0.9-inch mono screen on the front to quickly view notifications such as text messages, calls, time, battery life and signal status. The phone also has T9 keypad along with SOS Key on the back that lets you call a preregistered number by pressing three times quickly within 1.5 seconds. Update: LG has confirmed that the phone will be called ‘LG VELVET’ that will emphasize distinctive designs and “tactile” elegance to set itself apart. It will be the first LG device to implement the company’s new branding strategy for its mobile devices, moving away from alphanumerical designations in favor of familiar and expressive names. LG says that the name “velvet” is intended to evoke images of lustrous smoothness and premium softness, two key characteristics of the new phone.

LG’s G series lineup of smartphones is popular for its camera capabilities and while the company introduced something new with every iteration like the swappable modules, the company received a lot of flak from consumers for their smartphone pricing strategy, at least in India. Now, according to fresh reports, LG is said to stop the production of G series and introduce a new ‘mass premium product’, in a bid to make a comeback in the market.

It is powered by Snapdragon 865 with Snapdragon X55 5G Modem, is powered by a bigger 6.8-inch FHD+ OLED screen, has dual rear cameras with 13MP 117° super wide-angle, 64MP standard and a time of flight (ToF) sensor array. It has an 10-megapixel front camera.
