Micromax has launched Canvas Lapbook L1160 with quad-core Intel Atom processor and Windows 10, in partnership with Intel and Microsoft. It has a 11.6-inch (1366 x 768 pixels) display and it is the company’s second laptop, after the Canvas Lapbook L1161 that was launched back in October last year. Micromax today launched its flagship Canvas 6 and Canvas 6 Pro smartphones at its Guts to Change event in Gurgaon. The Canvas 6 has a metal unibody design and comes with a fingerprint sensor on the back. Both the phones have a 5.5-inch 1080p display, come with a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, PDAF for quick focus, have 4G LTE support and pack a 3000mAh battery. The Canvas 6 Pro is powered by an Octa-Core MediaTek Helio X10 processor.
Micromax partners with Visa and TranServ for mobile payment solution
Micromax today announced a strategic partnership with TranServ and Visa to offer mobile payment solution for its customers. This new feature will soon be available to Micromax smartphone users through the Udio app, which is a digital wallet enabled by TranServ to create social or merchant payments. It allows consumers to shop using a Visa card number linked to the underlying prepaid wallet, wherever Visa is accepted, thereby making the same money available for both for the online and offline payment.

Micromax CEO Vineet Taneja officially resigns
Micromax CEO Vineet Taneja has officially resigned from the company following a report in January earlier this year. Taneja had joined Micromax in June 2014 from Samsung India where he served as country Head for IT & Mobile businesses. Prior to Micromax and Samsung, he had previously served in Bharti Airtel, Nokia India (between January 2008 to April 2010) and Hindustan Lever.

Micromax becomes third largest smartphone player in Russia: Report
Micromax has grabbed the number three spot in the Russian smartphone market according to the latest research from Counterpoint’s Market Monitor program. The homegrown smartphone handset maker has a market share of over 9% in Q4 2015.
