ZTE announced the ECO-MOBIUS modular phone concept last year, even before the Motorola Project Ara . It even won Red Dot 2013 award for the best concept design. Kodak takes on Sony’s QX with PixPro Smart Lenses SL10 and SL25
Kodak, the forgotten camera maker known for its film-based point and shoot cameras, has just unveiled its latest entrant into a surprisingly new segment. Remember the Sony QX range of Smart lenses? Kodak wants to take on that newly created market with its PixPro Smart lenses. The idea is exactly the same, we have a lens unit, complete with a sensor, storage unit and dedicated shooting capabilities but lacks a viewfinder, that will in turn be present on your Android or iOS smartphone. Kodak plans to offer a range of lenses with this idea that eventually will offer long zoom capabilities(10x zoom – SL10 and 25x zoom – SL25) on your smartphone, just like Sony’s QX series.

Samsung Galaxy Camera 2 Hands On
Samsung announced the Galaxy Camera 2, successor of the first Galaxy Camera ahead of CES last week. We got some hands on time with the Galaxy Camera 2 at the CES this week. The Galaxy Camera 2 has a 16.3 Megapixel 1/2.3″ BSI CMOS sensor and has the same 21x Optical Zoom Lens along with Xenon Flash and OIS support. This has a leather texture on its body that is completely different from the plastic body in the first Galaxy camera. It also weighs a bit lesser than its predecessor.

Coolpad Halo with 7-inch Full HD display, Octa-Core processor announced
Coolpad, popular Chinese smartphone manufacturer has showcased the Coolpad Halo, the world’s first smartphone to feature a 7-inch full HD display and a Octa-Core processor at the International CES 2014 in Las Vegas. It has a 7-inch (1920 x 1200 pixels) capacitive touch screen display, powered by a 1.7 GHz Octa-Core MediaTek MT6592 processor with Mali 450-MP4 GPU and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). Among the many useful and buyable gadgets at the CES 2014, we came across the HTC One Gold Edition. Sometime during 2013, HTC announced a Gold Edition. Unlike the gold color variants from other manufactures, the HTC One Gold Edition is made out of pure gold and it went on sale for 2,750GBP(approx Rs. 2,80,000). Sony Xperia Z1s Hands on
Sony launched their current flagship – Sony Xperia Z1 in September, 2013 during IFA and it has been the company’s flagship till now. Last year at CES 2013, Sony had announced their twin flagships – Sony Xperia Z and Xperia ZL, and hence we expected there was some speculation that Sony will be unveiling something in the smartphone category at CES 2014. We were right, they did announce a smartphone with top of the line specifications, but it isn’t exactly the company’s flagship. Razer Nabu SmartBand with dual OLED screens announced, offers notifications from Android and iOS devices
After LG and Sony, Razer has introduced Razer Nabu SmartBand at the International CES. Razer calls it has the world’s smartest wristband. It offers notifications from iPhone or Android smartphones smartphone on tiny OLED screens and also tracks selected personal information. Razer says it’s and open platform so that third-party developers can create applications for personal, physical and geographical data. Sony Xperia Z1 Compact Hands On
Sony unveiled the Xperia Z1 compact, the smaller version of their flagship Xperia Z1 at the CES earlier this week. We already brought you the live images of the Xperia Z1 Compact yesterday, here we have the hands-on video of the smartphone. The phone has the same solid build with single aluminium frame with tempered glass on the front and back that we had seen on the Xperia Z1. Polaroid Socialmatic Instant Camera Android-powered digital camera with printer and social sharing announced
Polaroid has partnered with C&A Licensing, LLC and Socialmatic LLC to introduce Polaroid Socialmatic instant camera at the CES that lets you print your pictures instantly and also share via major social media networks using the camera’s built in Wi-Fi. It is powered by Android and also comes with a touch screen. It uses Zero Ink Printing technology similar to the LG’s pocket printers, which uses ZINK Paper for ink-free printing. Yahoo acquires Aviate launcher, talks up contextual search
Marissa Mayer just concluded Yahoo’s CES keynote today and one of the main takeaways from it was how the company is looking to change search, especially on mobile. Google Now has been at the forefront of contextual search on Android and iOS and Yahoo wants to tackle exactly that. How? It just announced the acquisition of the intelligent Android launcher – Aviate. The launcher, which was doing the rounds in beta, is currently a invite-only homescreen replacement that automatically configures your home screen based on contexts like time, usage, preferences and place. It was touted as the “Google Now” of launchers, so it is easy to see why Yahoo lapped it up.

Intel Edison, a 22nm ultra-small computer based on Quark tech announced
Intel has unveiled Edison, the company’s new Quark technology-based computer in an SD card form factor at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. It also has built-in wireless support and is based on 22nm dual-core Intel Quark technology for ultra-small and low power-sensitive smart consumer products and wearable computing.
