Xiaomi now #1 in China after replacing Samsung

Samsung isn’t having the best week. First, local Indian manufacturer Micromax toppled the Korean giant to claim the number one spot in India. Next, China’s Xiaomi (that’s been making waves in India as well) replaced Samsung as the numero uno maker in China.

Apple launches iPad Air and iPad mini with TD-LTE for China

Apple has launched TD-LTE variants of the iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina display in China. This would brings both TD-SCDMA and TD-LTE support along with standard GSM and WiFi capabilities. Apple already sells WiFi + Cellular variant of the iPad Air and iPad mini in China with support for GSM and CDMA. The LTE model is also priced similar to the CDMA variant. Xiaomi Redmi Note with 5.5-inch HD display, octa-core processor confirmed

Xiaomi’s upcoming smartphone in the Redmi series got certified in Tenna in China last week. Lei Jun, founder of Xiaomi Tech has confirmed that the phone would called Redmi Note / Red Rice Note and would feature a 5.5-inch HD screen and an octa-core MediaTek MTK6592 processor. As you can see from the image, it has capacitive touch buttons that glows in Red and a LED notifications light on top. China welcomes Nokia X with 1 million pre orders

The Nokia X made a huge (green) splash at the Mobile World Congress event a couple of weeks and has been rapidly making its moves into markets, with it launching in Malaysia, India and the Phillipines. It is now all set to launch in China, and just 5 days after announcing the device for the market and opening the pre-orders, Nokia has reportedly received 1 million of them already. The company posted this on its Weibo account with a celebratory image touting the big number.

Xiaomi, popular for its Mi series of smartphones in China was rumored to launch a tablet last year, but it didn’t happen. A device codenamed Xiaomi HM 1AC has surfaced on GFXBench with some specifications. According to the benchmarks, it would have a 9.2-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) display, powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 400 processor with Adreno 305 GPU and run on custom MiUI ROM based on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean). Samsung Galaxy S III Neo+ (GT-I9300I) that got certified in Tenna and FCC last month has gone official in China through Samsung website listing. It has dual SIM support with dual standby and runs on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) out of the box. Other features are similar to the Galaxy S3 including a 4.8-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD Super AMOLED display, 1.4 GHz quad-core processor, 8-megapixel rear camera and a 1.9-megapixel front-facing camera. Huawei has launched the Ascend P6 S, the successor of last year’s Ascend P6 in China. It has a 4.7-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) display based on in-cell LCD screen technology, similar to the Ascend P6, but this one is powered by a 1.6 GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) with Huawei’s own Emotion UI 2.0 on top. Huawei has launched B199, the company’s latest mid-range smartphone for the Chinese markets. It has a 5.5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) IPS display, powered by a 1.6 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon (MSM8628) processor and runs on Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) with Huawei’s own Emotion UI 1.6 on top. It has a 13-megapixel auto focus rear camera with LED flash and 1080p video recording  and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera.
