Sony Ericsson X10: Negatives and Conclusion!

I already told you some Things i really like about the Sony Ericsson X10, this huge white Android Device I’m currently trialing, thanks to Sony Ericsson Austria. All the positive Things I posted are rather expected and should be natural if you look at the Specs of the X10. Unfortunately, the X10 leaves a lot to be desired. I have trialed 3 Sony Ericsson Devices in the last few Months and none of them was good enough, that i’d actually consider buying it. The X10 is in that Line as well, although I think a lot can be corrected here with a gigantic Software Upgrade, which already brings me to my first Point:

What speaks for the Sony Ericsson X10 ?

The Sony Ericsson X10 – a stylish, rather big Smartphone, that is supposed to save Sony Ericsson from a possible Disaster. At least thats how i felt, when i went to the Press Conference in Vienna, Austria in November 2009. I was lucky enough to score an Invite from their Press Department, and after seeing first Videos on the Internet i was .. excited? nervous? drooling? Pick whatever you like.

I had a very short Hands on Time with an early Prototype back then and it felt good. The Software needed some more Work and there were some Things that made it feel like a Prototype, but now I’m back with a Retail Unit and yes, i was very eager to try it once again and see how it performs in real Life. I’m going to break the X10 down in another good Thing/bad Thing Series, with Observations I made in the Time i had it. I was told that the Requests of X10’s are extremely high, so I’ll try to make the very Best of the Time i have it.

LG BL40 Review Part-1: Design

Now we’ve had the LG BL40 for quite some time and we’ve used it quite a bit here and there. So much so that it’s apt to talk about the design of this phone.

Now the LG BL40 is a long device! at 128mm it’s easily long, it’s thin – 10.9mmm and at 51mm it’s not very broad too. It’s easily a super model in in the world of mobile phones.

The phone is easily the most unique in terms of it’s design and also the screen size. At 345 x 800 pixels and 4.01 inches, this thing sure has the widest screen in the business.

You must be wondering why am I talking of these things and not the design of the phone. Well that is because these dimensions are important to understand how the phone is when it comes to the looks and design.

the BL 40

As you can see the Bl40 does not have any buttons on the front fascia at all, everything is on the capacitive screen. The sides of the BL40 house buttons for the Camera, MP3 player and the volume. The MP3 player is on the left side while the remaining are on the right. These buttons are chrome plated and run along the entire left and right side of the phone.
