Amazon introduces new Fire 7 tablet with more storage, faster processor for $49.99

Amazon has introduced new 9th generation Fire 7 tablet, successor of the model that was introduced back in 2017. This has a 16 GB of internal storage, up from 8GB, and also comes in 32GB version. It also has a faster processor, says the company.

HUAWEI MediaPad M5 Lite with 8-inch Full HD display, 4G LTE, 5100mAh battery announced

Along with the Enjoy 9S and the 9e, HUAWEI also introduced the MediaPad M5 Lite 8″. It has an 8-inch Full HD screen, is powered by Kirin 710 SoC with up to 4GB of RAM, GPU Turbo 2.0, runs Android 9.0 (Pie) with EMUI 9.0, has a 13-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel camera on the front.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e with 10.5-inch WQXGA Super AMOLED display, 6GB RAM, Android Pie, 5.5mm sleek metal body announced

Samsung just announced Galaxy Tab S5e (SM-T725), the company’s latest tablet.  It has a 10.5-inch Super AMOLED WQXGA screen, is powered by an Octa-Core SoC and runs on Android 9.0 (Pie). It has quad speakers tuned by AKG by HARMAN, similar to the Tab S, but it doesn’t have an S Pen or Iris scanner.

Alcatel has launched 3T 8, the company’s latest tablet in India. It packs a 8-inch (1280 x 800 Pixels) display, is powered by a quad-core MediaTek MT8765 processor, runs on Android 8.1 (Oreo), has an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. It has 4G VoLTE connectivity via SIM and support for voice calling through headset or speaker.

Amazon introduces new Fire HD 8 with hands-free Alexa support, Fire OS 6

Amazon has introduced its 8th Generation Fire HD 8 for this year. This is almost similar specifications as the previous Fire HD 8 model, but this comes with Alexa hands-free that lets you ask Alexa to play a song, pause a movie, video call a friend or family member, and more—using only your voice, even when your screen is on standby. It has a new 2-megapixel front camera, up from VGA in the previous generation, and also runs new  Fire OS 6, but it is still based on Android Nougat.

Lenovo Tab E7, Tab E8, Tab E10, Tab M10 and Tab P10 Android tablets announced

Lenovo has introduced five new tablets – Tab E7, Tab E8, Tab E10, Tab M10 and Tab P10, including a Android Oreo (Go Edition) tablet. The entry-level Lenovo Tab E7 runs Android Oreo Go Edition, has a  7-inch screen, 10.33mm thin frame and promises up to 5 hours of video watching. Tab E8 has an 8-inch HD display, supports by Dolby Atmos, has a slim and light profile at 8.9mm thin and weighing  320g, while offering up to 10 hours of local video playback.

Worldwide tablet shipments declined 13.5% in Q2 2018, Apple and Samsung continue to lead: IDC

According to IDC, worldwide tablet market declined 13.5% in Q2 2018 as global shipments fell to 33 million. Slate tablets accounted for the majority of the market with 28.4 million units, which is down 14.5% from the previous year. On the other hand, the detachable tablets also declined during the quarter largely due to the high-profile product launches in the Q2 of 2017 and the absence of timely updates to those products in 2Q18. Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 with 10.5-inch WQXGA Super AMOLED display, Iris Scanner, S Pen, 4G LTE announced

Samsung has announced the Galaxy Tab S4, successor of last year’s Galaxy Tab S3, as expected. It has a 10.5-inch Super AMOLED WQXGA screen, is powered by a Octa-Core Snapdragon 835 SoC and runs on Android 8.1 (Oreo). It has quad-stereo speakers tuned by AKG by HARMAN, similar to the predecessor and comes with an an enhanced S Pen. It has got rid of the fingerprint scanner and the home button on the front for Iris scanner.

Global tablet shipments continue to decline, down 11.7% YoY in Q1 2018 : IDC

Global tablet market continues to decline, and in the first quarter of 2018 (1Q18), it declined 11.7% year over year with total shipments of 31.7 million units, according to the latest report from International Data Corporation (IDC). Detachable tablets like the Microsoft Surface and iPad Pro saw over 2.9% YoY growth by grabbing 15.3% share, but the traditional slate tablets continued to decline with 26.8 million unit shipments, down 13.9% from the prior year.
