A small English auctioneer based in Marchington, East Staffordship have been appointed by the administrators of failed UK retailer Phones4U to raise approximately £10.8 million by selling ex stock items. Around 2,000 to 3,000 items – which include headphones, watches, speakers and cases – have begun going on sale in weekly online auctions which will continue until all stock is sold. Galaxy Note Edge UK launch delayed again?

The rollout of the Galaxy Note Edge is fast turning into Samsung’s saga of the year as the unique twin of the Galaxy Note 4 could be delayed yet again. We’ve already seen the handset launch slip with the initial launch rumoured for the middle of November before being pushed back to November 28 and then again to December 12th. The latest information we have comes directly from Samsung’s UK online store and suggests the launch may be pushed back a further 5 days with Note Edge shipments set to begin on December 17th. Three UK have revealed that their superfast 4G network is now available to 48% of the UK population with 3.1 million of their customers are now using the next-generation network. Three was the last network to roll out 4G ten months ago and despite the 48% coverage, they are still behind EE (78%), O2 and Vodafone (51%). Oppo Find 7 up for pre-order in the UK

The Oppo Find 7 may have been introduced in March this year but the handset has finally made it’s way to the UK and is available to pre-order from Amazon UK. The handset starts at £319 for the 16GB version whilst those wanting more storage will have to fork out £379 for the 32GB version. Nexus 6 lands in the UK at O2

O2 have stolen a march on its rivals by launching the new Google Nexus 6 in the UK a few days ahead of Carphone Warehouse. The handset is available on O2’s Refresh tariff and is available to both new and existing customers. The retailer is offering a special deal on the handset, offering unlimited minutes and texts with 2GB data each month for £38 per month. O2 CEO: Three takeover is unlikely

O2’s Chief Executive Officer, Ronan Dunne, has claimed that reports of a takeover of the operator by rival Three UK is unlikely. Earlier this week, reports surfaced that Three could join both BT and Vodafone in eyeing up either EE or O2 for an acquisition but O2’s CEO says that a Three takeover is the least likely of all scenarios. Karbonn Sparkle V is the first Android One smartphone to launch in the UK

Google launched the Android One series in India at an event back in September. Now the Karbonn Sparkle V, the company’s first Android One smartphone is on sale in the UK via Amazon for £129.99 or £99 as part of a Black Friday promotion. This becomes the first Android One smartphone to sell in the UK. It was launched in India for Rs. 6,399 and got a price cut to Rs. 5,999 last month. Galaxy Note Edge UK launch delayed until December 12

The Galaxy Note Edge will NOT go on sale in the UK on November 28 as originally planned with Samsung confirming the handset’s launch has been delayed until December 12. Alongside the delay in the launch, Samsung have pushed back the pre-order period and shortened it to a week meaning you won’t be able to order it from Samsung or Carphone Warehouse before December 5th. BT to buy O2 UK from Telefonica?

UK operator BT is rumoured to be in talks to buy O2 UK with O2’s parent company Telefonica seeking a strategic partnership with BT that would see it sell its mobile network in return for a 20% stake. According to a report on El Confidencial, Telefonica’s CEO César Alierta is exploring the partnership with BT to create a European Giant and whilst talks are at an advanced stage, “there is nothing concrete yet”. Steve Unger takes over as Ofcom CEO

Steve Unger has been appointed as the new interim Chief Executive Officer set regulator Ofcom until the position is filled permanently in early 2015. Unger will replace Ed Richards, the current CEO, who has announced he is leaving his position at the end of the year. Unger, who holds a Master’s degree in Physics and a PhD in AstroPhysics, has previously held Director roles at Manet Telecom and the Isaac Newton Group of Telescopes.
